I've been a fan of Boss Fight Studios since I pledged all-in for their first 2014 Kickstarter campaign for their Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S. line. I loved these figures, but I'm typically more drawn to larger scales than their traditional 1:18 product. But luckily they've greatly expanded their variety, I've been eagerly buying almost all of it. The Power Stars, Strawberry Shortcake, Fraggle Rock, Bucky O'Hare, and Saurozoic Warriors make up an extremely diverse portfolio. But I admit I was always hoping they would do a traditional Marvel-Legends-esque series. And I finally got that with this amazing female-centric La Borinqueña comic line (for some reason I never picked up the Lucha Libre ladies). But these figures are beautiful and very fun. I've been a casual fan of the comics for years, but these figures bring them to life in a whole new way for me. It also prompted me to order the comics I'm missing to learn about the new characters in the line. I hope BFS makes a wave two. Let's check out Marisol aka La Borinqueña below!
My figure has some range of motion issues with her legs. I really appreciate her curvy body, but something about the way her inner thighs join against her crotch piece hinders her leg movement and poseability. I bet with a little dremeling, the sockets could be widened and her left leg wouldn't have to stick out at an angle.
Marisol comes with two heads (calm, and smiling with flower), a removable cape, two sets of hands, and the Atabex Petroglyph (a real replica artifact of the Taino people's supreme deity and the goddess of fertility, freshwater, and the moon found throughout the Caribbean).
I think this figure is awesome and really well constructed. I'm even more excited for my Epic H.A.C.K.S. and Red Sonja pre-orders now.
I don't know if we'll get more figures or not, but the green feathered Iguaca character might have my favorite design (I'm a big bird nerd), so I would love to see her in toy form.

I'm so happy that you have the whole set so that you can also line up the boxes to appreciate Luciano Vecchio's interconnected art. You also did fantastic job photographing all of them. I also read your review of Lúz La Luminosa and really appreciate that you like her character and costume design as well as her powers. I hope you have had the chance to read the additional books that expand our La Borinqueña universe. We just released our first manga, V★G1GANTE which further expands La Borinqueña's stories. On your question about a Wave 2 for La Borinqueña, there were talks of a build-a-figure style wave that included Iguaca, CAÑA troopers , a crystal blue see-through La Borinqueña, and pieces of V★G1GANTE in each figure box. ReplyDeleteI actually picked up all the books I was missing at your NYCC booth this year! I'll check out the manga now too. Such a shame about wave 2 of the figures. After reading the books I was missing I like Iguaca even more. I'm already a follower of your insta (but i had to go doublecheck to make sure haha).
