How to Train Your Dragon - ASTRID HOFFERSON!

How to Train Your Dragon (Movie) - Astrid & Deadly Nadder - Spin Master 2025

I recently watched the live-action How to Train Your Dragon (2025) and kind of loved it. When the movie was announced, I had one of those reactions like "Why remake a CGI animated movie into live-action? Won't the dragons just be CGI again? And the original still holds up as a great movie." But when I started watching it a few weeks ago, I was instantly drawn in. A huge part of the success goes to the casting. Mason Thames as Hiccup was especially great (I've seen him in Incoming and other movies and quite like him). A lot of the other characters are great too, but they all seem pretty altered from the original. I was a big fan of America Ferrera's animated portrayal of Astrid, so I was planning to be critical of this lanky brunette imposter in the role, but I was impressed. Nico Parker played the part well and put her own stamp on the character. During the movie I kept thinking I had seen her before (I hadn't) and just now I discovered that she is Thandie Newton's daughter (and is the spitting image of her).

I'm glad that Spin Master seem to consistently have the Dragons license and always makes lots of fun product for the different iterations of the franchise. Currently the stores are loaded with movie product, and this Astrid stand out for me as one of the best human figures in the line. Let's check her out below!

Note this figure also comes in a large multipack with several dragons and humans.

Astrid has seven points of articulation: ball-post shoulders, head, and hips, and then hinge-and-swivel knees. Her arms on legs kept popping off their pall-posts on my figure.

Astrid's Dragon steed is simply named after its species, the Deadly Nadder.
We know this beast's name to be Stormfly from the previous movies. I frankly don't remember if the Dragons get personalized names in the live-action movie.

Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!

Here are the two female figures from How to Train Your Dragon (2025):

And here are all my Dragons figures from various iterations of the franchise. From Left to Right: Jun Wong (2022), Astrid Hofferson (2019), Ruffnut Thorston (2025), Astrid Hofferson (2015), Astrid Hofferson (2025), Ruffnut Thorston (2020), and Alex Gonzales (2021).

Cheers!
