Marvel Legends - SINGULARITY!

Marvel Legends - TRU Exclusive A-Force 6-Pack - Singularity - Hasbro 2017

Hasbro is pretty good at surprising me, but I can honestly say I never expected to see a Singularity figure in my lifetime. One of my favorite comic book tropes out there is the "mysterious stranger." I always get obsessed with these characters. Especially when they are timid (but suspiciously powerful) females. In Alpha Flight, I got hooked on Marrina; in Generation X, I fell for Penance; and in Legion Lost, I was obsessed with Shikari. That's just naming a few off the top of my head (let me know if you have others!) Singularity is the mysterious stranger who first appeared in 2015's A-Force #1. She is initially distrusted (as is always the case in these stories), but she proves to be a powerful ally. Singularity is a living pocket dimension. She is able to teleport herself (and others), make things disappear into a void, and track people psionically (just like Shikari from above!). I'm really excited to catch up on my A-Force reading now - I'm so behind. Hope everyone had a great Eclipse day! Let's check out Singularity below!

Before we get into the awesomeness of this figure, I must point out the one flaw I noticed: When I took her out of the packaging, her legs were pretty warped. She couldn't stand properly and I needed to do the hot water trick to fuse them back into a normal shape. Normally I wouldn't list this as a flaw so much as random packaging mishap, but I think the softness of this translucent plastic played a big part in the warping. My Iceman from the X-Men series is very soft as well. The same soft plastic also makes her a little less steady on her feet than a typical Legends figure. Just something to be aware of.

Okay. Awesomeness time! We've seen a lot of "starfield" figures over the years, but each time a new figure comes out, the technology and execution improves - and true to form, this figure is the best I've ever seen. The entire body is made from translucent plastic that fades from light blue to dark purple (although it's possible the purple is translucent paint on the surface - very hard to tell); The stars are embedded glitter; she has metallic purple painted highlights; and her bright white eyes really pop.

Time for some Group Pics!

Here is the entire A-Force set together. From Left to Right: Monica Rambeau, Elsa Bloodstone, She-Hulk, Singularity, Sif, and Loki.

Cheers!

  1. That's a very impressive figure. I've seen the type before but never beautiful as this. And Singularity, she's adorable. I wish A-Force continued but goddamn it Civil War II. Swine Bendis.

But either way, I love that comic and Singularity is one of those characters whose personality is very infectious and in a way, I can see a bit of myself in her.

    1. You're really making me want to keep reading through my stash of issues. Last time I checked in, Singularity was still barley speaking. I'm really curious to see how her personality unfolds.

  2. I love this figure and I really hope they bring A-Force back for another run. My biggest complaint with this figure is the face sculpt, I really wish she was smiling or something less neutral and stoic

    1. I can see what you mean with the face.. she's seems super serious here. But while a smile might be more in sync with her character, the execution of joyous facial expressions is usually a trainwreck. Even the subtle smirk they tried to give Enchantress last year seems weird the more a look at it. A full-blown smile usually looks bizarre in plastic.
