Kotobukiya ArtFx Plus - CATWOMAN!

ArtFx Plus 1:10 Pre-Painted Statue - DC Comics Catwoman - Kotobukiya 2018

If I ever upped my game and seriously started collecting much beyond action figures, I can guarantee I would become obsessed with the ArtFx+ line from Kotobukiya. They have a level of quality and a not-too-unreasonable price points that really captures my fancy. Plus the 1:10 scale can really blend well with most action figure collections. I haven't taken the plunge with the X-Men Animated statues yet, but every time I see them in a store I am super tempted. When I bought the first Catwoman ArtFx+ back in 2013, I immediately began wishing to complete the Gotham City Sirens. The villainous trio of Catwoman, Poison ivy, and Harley Quinn always captured my imagination like few other team-ups could. But the only other interesting figure in that first wave was Batgirl. Eventually there was a gorgeous Harley Quinn followed by Ivy, but they were in a different (better) style and I was upset my long-awaited trio wouldn't match. But alas, there was a new version on the horizon. Let's check out Catwoman v2 below!

Kotobukiya ArtFx Plus - POISON IVY!

ArtFx Plus 1:10 Pre-Painted Statue - DC Comics Poison Ivy - Kotobukiya 2018

I'm really loving the new line of ArtFx+ statues from Kotobukiya. The face sculpts are beautiful and classic (sculpted by Keita Misonou). The older ArtFx+ statues from back in 2013-14 had great sculpts all around (sculpted by Atelier Bamboo/Goutaro Takeuchi) but the faces were much more stylized. I was a little bothered when the Harley Quinn statue was shown a few years ago with the new face style, thinking that it wouldn't look right with my existing Catwoman and Batgirl. But before I knew it they announced a new Catwoman as well as this spectacular Poison Ivy. I must say that this statue is one of my favorite pieces of Ivy merchandise I own. It has a real classic look. She looks seductive and wicked without resorting to skimpy clothing and ridiculous cleavage. To me, Ivy has always been one of those characters who oozes sex appeal, but doesn't need to beat you over the head with it. I think she's best when her personality tells the story, so I love this slightly modern take on her original costume. Let's check her out!

Kotobukiya ArtFx Plus - HARLEY QUINN!

ArtFx Plus 1:10 Pre-Painted Statue - DC Comics Harley Quinn - Kotobukiya 2017

I've really slowed down on Harley Quinn collecting. The sheer abundance of new Harley products is just too much to stay current with. However, one product I have always wanted was a Kotobukiya ArtFx Harley Quinn. Ever since Catwoman and Batgirl were released back in 2013-2014, I knew she would be next (but I didn't expect it to take three years and for the ArtFx style to have changed). The style changes in this line aren't that drastic; the faces are more detailed/realistic and the size is fractionally larger. But that's okay because there is already a new Catwoman 2.0 on the horizon (as well as a Poison Ivy) and I can only assume a new Batgirl will soon follow. The only bad thing about this figure is that she does not have the standard magnetic feet and metallic base. Instead, she has metal rods protruding from the soles of her feet that anchor into a clear resin base. This is a bummer for me because I prefer to display these pieces without bases. Curious to see how the other will be. Let's check out Harley!

ArtFx Plus - SPIDER-GWEN!

ArtFx Plus 1:10 Pre-Painted Statue - Marvel Now! Spider-Gwen - Kotobukiya 2017

I'm not a huge collector of statues. But sometimes there is a great representation of one of my favorite characters and I just can't resist. I now own four ArtFx+ statues and I've been very impressed with all of them. The 1:10 (7") scale fits in very nicely with an action figure collection, and the price point is at that medium $50-60 level where it won't break the bank, but you'll probably be selective about you character choices. This is the first Marvel ArtFx I've picked up and I'm very happy with my purchase (my advice is to find someone with a Barnes & Noble membership and snag one of their 20% off coupons. That's the cheapest way I've been able to get one). I'll likely get any future Spider-ladies they produce (A classic Jessica Drew would be amazing), but I won't be holding my breath considering there is a decent number of Spider-boys on the schedule and no other women on the horizon besides Gwen. Maybe there will be some surprises at NYCC this week though.  Let's check out Spider-Gwen below!

Kotobukiya ArtFx BATGIRL!

DC Comics ArtFX 1/10 Scale Statue: Batgirl - Kotobukiya 2014

Kotobukiya's ArtFX statue line is the first series of "plastic" statues I've purchased.  Their Bishoujo lines of DC and Marvel characters as well as DC Collectibles' Ame-Comi series have been extremely tempting for me.  The price is much less than standard collector statues, and they come out much more frequently.  But there has always been a stylistic quality that led me to decide against taking the plunge (mainly they were too cartoony, too T&A, or both). But this ArtFX line seems perfect.  Sure, the faces seem to have a distinct anime style, but overall they are great comic representations.  My only qualm is that I wish there were more.  I think it's odd that we haven't seen a Harley Quinn or Poison Ivy yet.  Perhaps we'll see something new at Toy Fair next week.  I'm excited to see their new Super Powers statues, but hopefully that hype doesn't rule out future comic-styled characters.  There's so much potential I'd hate to see it squandered.  But I digress.  Let's check out Batgirl below!

Kotobukiya ArtFx+ CATWOMAN Statue!

http://www.shesfantastic.com/2014/01/kotobukiya-artfx-catwoman-statue.html
DC Comics New 52 ArtFx+ Catwoman Fully-Painted 1:10 Statue - Kotobukiya 2013

I'm loving the massive selection of statues being released in recent years.  It seems that just 10 short years ago you would be lucky to see a single heroine statue in a year.  But now you have to pick and choose because no collector is going to have the budget needed to be a completist.  Between Cover Girls, Bombshells, Bishoujo, Arkham City, Batman Black & White, Ame-Comi, Art of War, Mini-Busts, and many more, we are just inundated with fantastic high-end collectibles.  This Catwoman is my first piece from Kotobukiya's ArtFx line.   She is 7.5" tall, beautifully sculpted, composed of a dense PVC, and very reasonably priced.  The entire line has a slight "anime" design to the faces, but overall they have a very classic comic-styled look.  To be honest, I wasn't really planning on getting this figure until I saw the solicitation for this Summer's Batgirl figure.  Now I'm just banking on a future Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy release to round out this new collection of mine.  Let's check Catwoman out below!
