DC x Sonic - 5" & 2.5" Hero 2-pack - Wonder Woman & Amy - Jakks Pacific 2026

It's been quite a while since we've had a non-McFarlane, non-preschool Wonder Woman figure on the shelves. There was an under-the-radar 9.5" figure from Spin Master in 2023, but before that was 2020. That's six years without fun little off-scale Dianas filling the gaps between McFarlane releases. The DC x Sonic comic and toyline isn't something I would have expected to work so well. Mashups can be a tricky thing.. they have the potential to bring together two large fandoms. But if either one of the fandoms is misrepresented, it can easily be a double failure. I'm glad the decision to keep the DC heroes untouched while having the Sonic characters don DC costumes was a very smart move. Having Wonder Woman in animal ears would look goofy, but Amy in a star-spangled costume looks cool. It gives sidekick vibes and I love it. These hero multi-packs are unexpected. I assumed true DC action figures were already tied up in existing licenses, but apparently not. Let's check out Diana below!

DC x Sonic - BLAZE as STARFIRE!

I am having a great sense of vindication about owning these figures. Back in November, I posted an image on social media featuring the lineups of the next few waves of DC x Sonic figures. The post was several blurry graphs of character renderings, but no actual figures. I knew this leak was authentic (and it was proven to me when I was officially asked to remove it). But the collector community (outside of my amazing network) jumped all over me in the few short hours the post was up. The majority consensus was that it was fake and I was lying. Comments like "Blaze and Starfire don't even make sense. And it's blurry. Fake" flooded my feed. I made sure to screenshot them for posterity (read:grudge holding) before removing the post. About five weeks after the post, the next series of DC x Sonic comics was announced with promo images of the exact characters I leaked. Flash forward six months and I have the first few figures in hand. It's a smug sense of satisfaction that I'm loving. Let's check out Blaze below!

DC x Sonic - STARFIRE!

DC x Sonic - 5" & 2.5" Hero Multipack - Starfire and Blaze - Jakks Pacific 2026

I love how modern interpretations of Starfire have been so covered up. I know her original barely-there costume is iconic and classic, but I always found it so cringey - especially in a team of teenagers. Ironically, the first time I truly started to love this character was in the New52's Red Hood and the Outlaws when her outfit was even tinier and her actions were portrayed as much more cold and sexual than she had ever been before. Something about the art and older appearance of Koriand'r made her super appealing to me. But since then, DC has really course-corrected and she's mostly been costumed in an almost prudish way. But honestly I love it. This DC x Sonic design is new to me, but I realize it's her primary costume in the most recent (2023-present) Titans series. She still has the iconic orange skin, firey hair, purple outfit, and bright green alien eyes, but the pulled-back hair and more utilitarian uniform really makes this design stand out. It's crazy that Jakks was the first to give us a figure. Let's check out Starfire below!

DC x Sonic - ROUGE as CATWOMAN!

DC x Sonic - 5" Series - Rouge the Bat as Catwoman - Jakks Pacific 2026

Something about this Rouge the Bat as Catwoman design just looks right. Having an anthropomorphic bat character be pink and white with a heart motif never seemed weird to me before, but now seeing her clad in black/gray with goggles suddenly makes for a very nocturnal and aeronautical design. If you didn't know this was a Catwoman crossover (and you ignored the little cat icon on her belt), you might think this was just Rouge in a cool new stealth suit. I think this figure is a must-have for Sonic fans, even if you aren't into the DC x Sonic crossover. The leaked lists of Sonic products from last fall didn't include any of the 5" Sonic characters from this line (only the 2.5" figures in both blind bag assortments and the DC hero 2-packs), so when this 5" Rouge as Catwoman started hitting Gamestop two weeks ago, it was a total surprise. Not necessarily an unexpected figure, but it was pretty amazing there weren't any leaked factory pics or inventory lists. Let's check out Rouge as Catwoman below!

Sonic the Hedgehog - TRIP THE SUNGAZER!

Sonic the Hedgehog 2.5" Sonic & Friends Mega-Set - Trip - Jakks Pacific 2026

I'm patient in almost every aspect of my life, except when it comes to toys. I have been wishing for a Trip the Sungazer (unmasked) in the Jakks Pacific Sonic line for years. We knew one was coming since several pictures of prototypes have been circulating the internet since last Fall. But I admit I was a little surprised to see her finally released in a giant Amazon-exclusive 16-Pack. If you collect either the Mario or Sonic lines from Jakks, you know almost every figure gets re-released in new packaging every few years. So I could gamble and wait for an eventual single-pack Trip. But FOMO won and I splurged. She is a very fun little figure and is bringing me so much joy, whether that feeling is worth 80 bucks or not is a question I'll ponder when my credit card bill comes. Coincidentally, I just discovered pics of Trip in her giant Golden Dragon from found on toy shelves in Mexico. There truly is a Trip renaissance happening right now. I hope a 4" Unarmored version is next. Let's check out Trip below!

Sonic the Hedgehog - TIKAL!

Sonic the Hedgehog - 4" Series Wave 24 - Tikal the Echnida - Jakks Pacific 2026

When I first noticed the character Tikal in the early 2000s, I wasn't a big fan. I thought he stylistic clothes were just too culturally specific for the Sonic Universe. All the other characters wore simple non-specific outfits, but this character (who I wrongly assumed was Egyptian) just seemed out of place. But over the years I would constantly hear her name mentioned from fans wishing for a toy of her, and I started looking at her in a new light. Learning that she was a fan favorite and actually in Ancient Mayan garb made me appreciate her a lot more. I still wasn't expecting to see her in the Jakks Pacific Sonic line, but I can admit she makes a pretty cool addition to the already-diverse character lineup. I also like that she is an Echnida, an animal that the science-nerd inside me has always been fascinated by (as one of only two monotremes on the planet!) and also because Knuckles the Echnida is an iconic character in the Sonic Universe, having a female Echnida just seems right. Sonic the Hedgehog - TANGLE THE LEMUR!

SEGA S3 - Sonic the Hedgehog (IDW) - Tangle the Lemur - Jakks Pacific 2025

I just can't get enough of Sonic the Hedgehog toys lately. Luckily for collectors, Jakks Pacific has a sub-line of Sega figures that occasionally feature an additional Sonic character in the lineup. The unfortunate thing is that these are historically Walmart-exclusive figures that are erratically stocked. Tangle is from Wave 3 and (to the best of my knowledge) has only shown up in Canadian Walmarts and T.J.Maxx stores in the US. IDW Comics began publishing Sonic the Hedgehog comics in 2018, and in a similar fashion to what they did for the Transformers franchise, they introduced a bunch of new female characters and finally started closing the gender gap a little. Arguably the most famous are Tangle the Lemur and Whisper the Wolf who even had their own team-up mini-series and starred in a ton of games (9 for Tangle and 7 for Whisper). Whisper even supposedly has a toy coming in Sega Series 4 (there have been painted prototypes on eBay), but fate of the Sega toyline is uncertain - details will be shared at SDCC.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2.5" Series 21 - Trip (Armored Version) -  Jakks Pacific 2026

I'm a big fan of Sonic the Hedgehog toys. Despite not knowing a ton about the property, I think the characters are fun and cute. And the Jakks Pacific line has been making some awesome deep cuts in recent years. Roughly two Summers ago I made a wishlist for SDCC reveals and included Trip the Sungazer in my most-wanted from Jakks. I thought this was such a longshot, but roughly 18 months later we suddenly have her in two scales. Of course, this isn't quite the version I wanted. I prefer her unarmored look in all her reptilian beauty. But the fact that she was made at all is a major gift.  I can admit, I was ready to skip this figure. But in person, the 2.5" version is adorable. She looks like a weird steampunk frog astronaut. The 4" version isn't nearly as appealing to me, so that one is unlikely to enter my collection. But beyond being cute, I also decided to pick up this figure because there have been several 2.5" unarmored Trip prototypes that have shown up on eBay and reddit, so I will definitely need both.

Super Mario Bros - BIRDO!

World of Nintendo - 4" Series Wave 47 - Birdo - Jakks Pacific 2025

Birdo is easily my favorite villain in the entire Mario Bros franchise. It's not just because she's the most notable female character, either (and, yes, I'm aware her gender is a matter of debate and speculation, but I have always assumed she was female and will keep doing so until there is some official statement otherwise).  Rather, I think she was the first villain that had an interesting presence in the games. The fact that she hopped around protecting an egg, while confusingly spitting other eggs at you - and the only way to defeat her was to catch her own eggs mid-flight and toss them back at her - was twisted and weird. I loved it. And the noise that accompanied her egg-launching was oddly haunting. Jakks has been nailing it with their Nintendo (and Sonic) figures. There hasn't been a single one that has been poorly sculpted or problematic in any way. I've been waiting several years for this upscaled Birdo in the 4" Jakks line but she was worth the wait. Super Mario Galaxy Movie - ROSALINA!

I might be the only person in the world who didn't enjoy the first Super Mario Bros Movie back in 2023. All my friends were singing its praises, but I was just bored by it. There's something about the super-popular CGI-centric movies in recent years like Minecraft, Pokemon, and all the Sonic movies that I just don't relate to. I always eagerly watch them with an open mind, but I usually am left unmoved. That said, I'm super appreciative of these same movies because they typically give us a nice merchandising blitz and I get to add some great pieces to my collection. The upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie stars the most neglected of the Mario "princesses", Rosalina. I've always really liked her design so it's very exciting to get a new figure of her (even if it's in this bizarre movie scale with the creepy glass eyes). I only hope she gets the same treatment as Peach from the first movie and we get some additional figures in different scales. Only time will tell though. Let's check out Rosalina below!

DC x Sonic - Mystery Heroes 2 - Rouge as Catwoman - Jakks Pacific 2026

Back in November, I came across some leaked images of a powerpoint presentation revealing details of the next few waves of DC x Sonic products. If these images were genuine, I was very excited. For a line that could have been a quick one-and-done release with the main characters all getting their second to shine, I was impressed by the offbeat choices and ambitious production schedule in these images. But those same reasons are why I suspected it was fake. I shared it on Instagram out of curiosity with a grain-of-salt caveat. Then to my surprise, I got a DM from Jakks asking me to remove the post. I complied of course and then got really excited at the prospect that the plans I saw were real. Now within six weeks of that ordeal I have in-hand proof. Wave 2 of the Mystery Heroes blind bag featuring Rouge the Bat as Catwoman. This is a very cool little toy that I'm very excited to add to my collection. I hope this line maintains the same momentum that Prime did. Let's check out Rouge below!

The Simpsons - SELMA & PATTY BOUVIER!

The Simpsons 2.5" Series - Selma (Wave 4) & Patty (Wave 5) - Jakks Pacific 2025

The Simpsons is one of those franchises that been a constant source of entertainment for most of my life. It's hard to think of a single episode that doesn't make me laugh out loud at some point. But when it comes to my toy hobbies, the overabundance of toys always seemed too overwhelming to even consider collecting. Plus the civilian nature of the the characters doesn't really fit in with my collection. But there are a few iconic B-characters that I always knew I would make an exception for. I'm obsessed with villainous twins, and surprisingly The Simpsons has graced us with two pairs; the troublemaking classmates of Bart's, Sherri and Terri; and Marge's grunting disapproving sisters, Selma and Patty. I stumbled across Selma at FiveBelow back in August and have been anxiously awaiting her sister Patty ever since. And only three months later I have the set. They make a fun grumpy pair (even if they don't come with their signature cigarettes). Let's check out the Bouvier twins below!

DC x Sonic - 5" Series - Amy as Wonder Woman - Jakks Pacific 2025

When all the Sonic the Movie and Sonic Prime started coming out years ago, I was a bit unhappy with the new 5" scale. In stores, it's almost hard to notice the shift between 4" figures and 5" figures, but in person it's a stark difference. It's not that I don't like the 5" scale, it's just that I was already invested in a 4" for years and had a small collection of figures in this scale already. Ideally this Amy as Wonder Woman figure would fit right in with with my Blaze and Cream toys, but alas, it appears that only the traditional video game and comic character will get the 4" treatment going forward. This DC x Sonic line is pretty exciting. I think a big part of the aesthetic appeal of the Sonic franchise is the bright colors and (relatively) simple designs. While the Prime and movie figures are fun, they stray from these core design elements. But this DC crossover hits all those classic Sonic notes combined with iconic superhero brands. DC x Sonic - Mystery Heroes 1 - Amy as Wonder Woman (Chase) - Jakks 2025

I was very excited to see that that secret Chase figure in the first wave of the DC x Sonic the Hedgehog Mystery Heroes blind bags was a classic-color redeco of Amy Rose as Wonder Woman. The main figure is a modern costume with a cape and metallic details, but this chase contrasts nicely with bright flat colors reminiscent of her bronze age comic design. The leaked photos of future waves show that Batman and the Flash will be getting the classic-color Chase treatment as well, but I'm happy that Amy as Wonder Woman was first. Those same leaked graphics show several more female figures potentially coming in 2026 so I am very excited for the future of this line. Not to mention the non-DC figures of unmasked Trip, Whisper the Wolf, Tikal, and Tangle the Lemur (who is already out in Canada). It's a very satisfying time to be a Sonic collector and I'm anxiously awaiting the next press release from Jakks Pacific letting us know what's next. DC x Sonic - Mystery Heroes 1 - Amy as Wonder Woman - Jakks Pacific 2025

Roughly 14 months ago there was a press release announcing a crossover event between DC's Justice League and Sonic the Hedgehog. One Batman Day 2024, an image of Shadow in a Batman suit broke the news. The announcement promised comics, clothing, toys, collectibles, and more. After the merchandizing avalanche of Sonic Prime which was just winding down after a year of steady releases, I had high hopes we would see the same treatment for this new crossover. And so far, it seems to be coming true. The property kicked off with a 5-issue comic series DC x Sonic the Hedgehog (ditching "Justice League" for a more all-inclusive "DC") that ran between April and July 2025 (ending with a "to be continued..." teaser). Then the toys hit in October. I knew a larger 5" series had been available via Target preorder for several months. But the 2.5" Mystery Heroes blindbags were a welcome surprise when I saw them on the shelf. Let's check out the 2.5" Amy as Wonder Woman below!

Nintendo - BABY DAISY!

World of Nintendo - 2.5" Series Wave 55 - Baby Daisy - Jakks Pacific 2025

I never expected to love last year's Baby Peach figure as much as I did. Overly "cute" toys often turn me off. Especially when it's actually an SD baby-fied character with a pacifier and diaper-looking pants. But when I picked up that Peach, something about her bright colors, surprising articulation (just because it looks like there would be none), and recognizable character traits drew me in. I was surprised that she had been around for 20 years and 13 games. I can only assume Baby Daisy has the same provenance. As the first 2025 female in the World of Nintendo line, I was especially excited to find this new Baby Daisy figure at Gamestop a couple weeks ago. She's adorable and fun. Now I'm on the hunt for the new 4" Birdo (she's showing up on eBay and oos store listings all over the internet). And also hoping for an announcement of a Baby Rosalina to round out the Princess trio. Rosalina's role in the next Mario movie should increase the likelihood of seeing her on the shelves. Bendy and the Dark Revival - AUDREY!

Bendy and the Ink Machine (Dark Revival) Wave 1 - Audrey - Jakks Pacific 2024

Jakks Pacific seems to have cornered the market on video game action figures. Their Nintendo (Mario) and Sega (Sonic) figures have been staples of the toy aisles for a decade. So it was interesting to see the first wave of Bendy figures last year. In short, I was unimpressed. The female character is the first assortment was Audrey, a new character introduced in 2022's (delayed) Dark Revival sequel game. This figure had awkward-looking articulation, a (too) blank expression, and glossy paint job that looked cheap. This was especially interesting because the last Bendy figure I purchased was this same character in a 2019 Wave from PhatMojo, which looked great (albeit with limited articulation). Luckily Jakks Pacific kept improving with every successive wave and the current figures on the shelves (Wave 3) look great. But, still, I think this figure is surprisingly lackluster from such a well-seasoned company (which is a shame since the character is pretty cool). Let's check out Audrey below!

Bendy and the Ink Machine - TWISTED ALICE!

Bendy and the Ink Machine Wave 2 - Twisted Alice - Jakks Pacific 2024

The first time I became aware of Bendy and the Ink Machine was when I stumbled across a PhatMojo figure of Twisted Alice way back in 2018. This figure didn't look very good. You could see that the articulation was awkward and the paint apps were horrible (there was a running change later with much better paint) but my curiosity about this new toy company and the intriguing creepy horror game these toys were based on inspired my purchase. In researching the game, I fell in love with the idea of a video game set in a haunted/abandoned animation factory. A lot of the characters in the franchise have both retro and modern design variations. The retro designs resemble early Disney and MGM styles and don't often get the grotesque treatment. But the modern versions tend to be decaying with dripping ink and violent tendencies. This figure is a great example of that. From some angles she looks like a sexy slinky diva, but from other angles she is corrupted and distorted. It's a pretty creep effect.

Bendy and the Ink Machine - ALICE!

Bandy Wave 3 - Bendy and the Ink Machine - Alice Angel - Jakks Pacific 2024

It's been a solid five years since we've seen Bendy figures in stores. I still have not played any of the games, but I enjoy the concept and characters designs. From the start, I have wanted a really classic-looking Alice Angel toy. There's something about her innocent Betty-Boop-esque appearance paired with her devil horns and creepy horror-game setting that always appealed to me. At some point in the recent past, the license has changed from PhatMojo to Jakks Pacific. In a similar fashion to the trajectory of the PhatMojo figures, the Jakks products started out kind of shaky, but have improved with each wave. This Alice figure is from Wave 3 and is pretty great. Mine had the slightest production issue where one of her knee joints isn't firmly nested in its socket (and won't go in further) but it's a small issue that I can likely correct later. I haven't heard any news about future Bendy waves yet, but knowing Jakks, there are probably move waves in the works. Let's check out Alice below!

Sonic Prime - BATTEN ROUGE!

Sonic Prime – 5” Action Figures Wave 4 - Batten Rouge - Jakks Pacific 2024

Sonic Prime, the CGI-animated show on Netflix, concluded earlier this year after three seasons and tons of toys. In total, there were sixteen 5" figures released and thirteen 2.5" figures. And that was all in a short 9-month period between July 2023 and March 2024. The theatrical movies only get a fraction of those numbers, so Prime had quite a big push in the merchandising department. There were seven female figures total, and this final figure, the 5" Batten Rouge is one I photographed way back in March but never got around to posting. This cartoon had a multiverse gimmick (the Shatterverse) that presented the main characters in a variety of thematic alternate realities. The "No Place" world featured a lot of pirate-deco'd characters, including one of my favorite Sonic ladies, Rouge the Bat. This figure is nearly identical to her 2.5" version released in 2023, so I don't have a lot to say about her (one of the reasons I postponed this review), but this truly is a cool toy on her own merits.
