Fastest Feline in the Universe - CHEETARA!

Masters of the Universe x ThunderCats - Wave 01 - Cheetara - -Mattel 2025

The MOTU mashup toylines continue to impress me. There is seemingly endless potential for crossover properties based on this classic MOTU aesthetic. Some notable mashup projects have included WWE, Stranger Things, and Transformers. But I personally feel the most exciting toys have come when two similar-but-distinctly-different licenses get to play off each other. We saw this with the Turtles of Grayskull line (April and Teela), and now with MOTU x ThunderCats. As a child of the 80s, I always wanted this crossover. They were both iconic fantasy cartoons that could potentially blend together nicely. But the action figures were just too different, both in scale and construction. Beyond being just a creative mashup of the two properties, this new line seems like a long overdue wish fulfillment to have these two genres occupy the same play space. And the fact that they come with the pieces to create the classic looks solidifies that theory. They're fantastic. Let's check out Cheetara below!

Here is Cheetara and all her pieces to create both a classic 1980s cartoon look, as well as a creative reimagining of what Cheetara might look like as an Eternian warrior.

I love that her headpiece features the Eye of Thundera. It's like the Sword of Omens was forged around her head instead of being a weapon to wield. I can also imagine the "Sight Beyond Sight" effect being really cool if there was a cartoon based on this design.

Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!

Here is Cheetara with the recent MOTUO Cartoon Collection She-Ra and Teela.
Cheetara seems slightly taller and thinner than the traditional MOTUO buck. I think this is actually the slightly larger sculpt that the MOTU 200x series shown a couple weeks ago at SDCC will use.

Cheers!

  1. For the cheap price of these, they're a BARGAIN, as Mattel decided to intelligently let you have the parts for the original look to them as well. If not for that, I wouldn't have bought anything except for Battle Cat Man. But instead, I've bought the entire line, even some dupes to grab armor for customs not even related to Thundercats. SO nice having an option to own these characters that look this good and don't cost an arm and a leg. They DO very much need to make Wilykit/Wilycat and Snarf, maybe even a Ma-Mutt before they ditch this arc.

    1. I agree completely. I'm buying all the main cats, plus battle cat and panthor. I'm curious to see if they'll do a She-Ra or Teela in feline armor.

    2. I'd be happy if they could make a Kittrina to go in this line, and this time, with digitigrade legs. Not even Classics bothered to give her the correct cartoon legs. I mean, Thundercats... relatable character to the theme? Good excuse to introduce anthro legs into their tooling aresnal?
