A really fun thing about G.I.Joe in the 80's was the vehicles names, especially the Cobra vehicles with their reptile-themed acronyms. The bad guys embraced this trope early (the Joes didn't start for a few years, and they never really had a cohesive theme). But Cobra gave us gems like: F.A.N.G. (Fully Armed Negator Gyrocopter, H.I.S.S. (High Speed Sentry), S.N.A.K.E (System Neutralizer Armed Kloaking Equipment), A.S.P. (Assault System Pod, and C.L.A.W. (Covert Light Aerial Weapon). Once again, Hasbro's G.I.Joe Classified team has found a way to get us another female soldier. There was never an original C.L.A.W. pilot, so I don't believe the design of this figure has any vintage references. I really like the red Officer's Helmet. It's visually very bold but fits in the with the Cobra soldier aesthetic nicely. I find myself pondering what troop builder should be next. The obvious answer is a generic green shirt female, but an Iron Grenadier or Python Patrol would be fun too. I can't wait to see what's next.
You'll notice that my Claw Pilot's chest insignia is printed off-center. The "window" of her chest harness really highlights the issue. But further down in this post you'll see what she looks like without the harness.
The C.L.A.W. pilot comes with a small handgun (that fits in her holster), an uzi, a suppressor for that uzi, a larger gun with a removeable round ammunition clip, and a figure stand.
The set also came with two missiles and two blast effects (seen down below in the solicit pics).
I bought my pilot loose on eBay so I do not own these.
She also comes with three heads and a red Officer's Helmet.
In the process of trying to confirm that my Claw Pilot indeed had her chest insignia printed off-center, I removed her torso harness. The insignia is definitely misprinted on mine, but when posed at a slight angle it's not noticeable. Also, I prefer the figure with the harness removed. You have to pop apart the torso to remove it.
I also wanted to see what she looked like with a blue helmet from the Valkyries set. They share the same headsculpt, so the fit is perfect. But the blue color is a more dull gray on the Valkyrie set, and the Claw Pilot's blue is much brighter. NOTE: The C.L.A.W. Pilot does NOT come with a blue helmet.
Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!
Here are all my recent Classified female troop builders: Crimson Guard, Valkyrie Officer, The Ferret Scout, The C.L.A.W. Pilot, Valkyrie Trooper, and The H..I.S.S. Tank Gunner.
The four in the middle share the same general body and head, but with different decos and accessories.
Cheers!
