DC Direct Silver Age LOIS LANE as SUPERWOMAN!

Classic Silver Age Superman: Series 1 - Lois Lane Superwoman - DC Direct 2006

Following up on yesterday's modern Super Lois figure, here is a fantastic representation of an empowered Lois as she appeared several times in the early 1960s.  DC Direct produced many great Silver and Golden Age figures during its run,  and I think collectors are unfortunately very unlikely to see products like this made again.  I love modern styles by all means, but the classics are just timeless. (Excuse me while I mourn).   This version of Lois was a pleasant surprise for me.  When I heard news of a single-packed wave of SA Superman figures, I assumed any ladies we got would just be redecos of the Deluxe Box Set figures from 5 years prior.  But no, instead we got this amazing piece of Superman history.  Her colors are bright, her hair is exquisitely dated, and her face looks downright mischievous.   Sculptor Karen Palinko did an amazing job capturing that Silver Age style with a lot of personality.  Let's check Lois out in detail below!

Here are a couple classic covers featuring this costume.

Her articulation is basic like all DC Direct figures of the time.  There isn't a ton of poseability, but there also isn't any marring of the sculpt from too many joints.

Time for a Comparison Pic!

  1. She looks great Alex!

I bought the DC Direct Lois that came in a 2-pack with Superman. If I were to buy a Super Lois it would be this one.

A Lois figure would be fantastic in DC Infinite Earths.

    1. I want that 2-Pack Lois. I always though they had the same headsculpt, but now I realize they're totally different (Bruckner vs Palinko).

The Man of Steel lines really missed the boat in getting some interesting lois and faora figures out there. I have my fingers crossed that we will see a Superman Legacy line like we did with Batman during his movie year. Maybe we'll get a cool Lois or a Kristin Wells Superwoman out of it.

  2. I have the Lois from the two pack and I though that was enough but I am loving the contraposto and simplicity of this one. Another must have thanks to you. You're ruining me! Haha.

    1. I do my best to empty your wallet! It's funny you mention the pose. I really like it, too. But I can't tell if it's intentional or not. Her waist almost seemed like it's assembled wrong. I'm curious to hear what yours looks like if/when you get her.

  3. Hi. Anybody know where the green and yellow Super Lois outfit can be bought? I have the same question regarding the yellow and purple Super Lana outfit. Thanks!

    1. Hi Brad. the best bet to pick up this Silver Age Super Lois figure is eBay or hitting up toy vendors at comic conventions. I don't believe there is a Super Lana figure. It's a shame there is isn't though because it's a pretty cool design.
