TOY FAIR 2014 Coverage - DC COLLECTIBLES!

\

 Action Figures - Statues

The DC Collectibles / Diamond booth was impressive as always.  Unfortunately they released a ton of solicitation photos a week before Toy Fair (which I think might just go down as the greatest series of product reveals of all time), but the downside is that there was hardly anything brand new in the booth.

I think this is the only true DC reveal made at the show:

DC Collectibles - DC Comics Cover Girls
Mera
November 2014

Another gorgeous lady designed by Stanley Lau.  This statue was displayed on a high shelf with a bight light on it.  That's why you'll find it hard to find a good pic of her from the show.

DC Collectibles - DC Comics: The New 52 Action figures
Batgirl
September 2014

Perfection.  I've been waiting for this figure for years.  I would love to see a variant Bluebelle (with a resculpted head of course).

DC Collectibles - DC Comics: The New 52 Action figures
Supergirl
September 2014

I'm obsessed with the New 52 Supergirl.  I was always hit or miss with the character in the past (perhaps because she didn't have a consistent personality), but the New52 version has me hooked.  This figure is amazing because I've been struggling with the idea of purchasing the Cover Girls statue or her New52 bust, but now I think this is the best option (and lets me put that saved money towards all the other amazing DCC products I have to budget for this year).

DC Collectibles - Batman: Li'l Gotham Action figures
Harley Quinn
September 2014

These are kind of adorable.  I'd love to see Huntress and Batwoman included, too.

DC Collectibles - DC Comics Greg Capullo Designer Series 2
Catwoman
October 2014

This figure has some odd paint apps (especially around the nostrils), but she looks really good in person and I love the idea of supporting and artist-specific series like this.  I'd be really interested to see them do a Kenneth Rocafort series, too (since he seems to be the golden boy of the New 52).  Not sure how his style would translate into 3D, but I'd love to see DCC give it a shot.

DC Collectibles - Batman: The Animated Series
Catwoman
November 2014

I love love love this figure.  I just pray that we see a Harley and Ivy.  And of course Batgirl would have be come along at some point, too.  And just how awesome would it be to get a Batwoman (from Mystery of the Batwoman) as a convention variant of Batgirl??  I might just die.

DC Collectibles - Infinite Crisis Action Figures
Pajama Party Harley Quinn
August 2014

DC Collectibles - Infinite Crisis Action Figures
Atomic Poison Ivy
December 2014

This was my surprise favorite from the show.  I really am not a fan of the Infinite Crisis Harley, but this poison Ivy is aMAZing in person.  First of all, she's a huge deluxe figure ($39.99).  I was half thinking these figures would be in the same scale as Injustice, but no, they're big.  Her plant details and paint apps are killer.  Really looking forward to adding her to my collection.

I was trying to get a rear photo so you could see all the awesome plant details.  The Orchid-like stamens are amazing.

DC Collectibles - Justice League War Action Figures
Wonder Woman
May 2014

Cheers!

  1. My two major wants for New 52 action figures have been Batwoman and Supergirl, so I'm really excited about Supergirl finally being announced. She looks amaaaazing. I would love it if we could get a Red Lantern variant at some point. :)

    1. Indeed! I would love a Red Lantern Supergirl. It seems like that storyline is going to carry on for quite a while. Also, once we get a Batwoman, I really hope a Brightbat variant will follow (perhaps with a Bluebell, batman, and Catbird) in a boxset.

  2. Really stoked to see the Batman Animated figures! Loved that show when I was young. Catwoman is looking superb.

The new 52 Supergirl is nice too.

Are you doing a general Toy Fair thread Alex? Some really awesome new MOTUC women show.

    1. I know, I'm super excited for Harley, Ivy, and Batgirl. Plus, I know it's a longshot, but if we got a Batwoman (from Mystery of the Batwoman) as a Batgirl variant or an exclusive, I would be ecstatic.

Yeah I was a little overwhelmed with my new house and crazy weather (snow storms every other day). But I finally got the remainder of the NYTF coverage posted. Just like last year, I was unable to get access to Mattel, Lego, and Hasbro (also Jazwares, Jakks, and Bandai). It kind of sucks. but that information is so saturated into the blogosphere that it doesn't bother me to miss out.
