Marvel Super Hero Adventures BLACK WIDOW!

Marvel Super Hero Adventures - Black Widow - Hasbro / Playskool 2014

I've been patiently waiting for a female in the Marvel Super Hero Adventures line for years. The previous incarnation of Marvel preschool toys, Superhero Squad, had an amazingly complex number of female heroes and villain in the line. I literally have dozens of females on my SHS shelf. The Marvel Super Hero Adventures figures are slightly larger and more durable.  I was initially hesitant to jump on board another preschool line after my beloved SHS dwindled to a halt, but then Fisher-Price / Mattel ramped up their DC Superfriends Imaginext line and my hiatus was over. There have been an underwhelming number of females in the DC lines (Catwoman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy), but they were still leaps and bounds ahead of the Marvel toys. This Black Widow figure was bought from an eBay seller in China and represents the very first female in the line. Who know how she will be released.  Maybe singularly, maybe in a 2-Pack, maybe a big multipack. Only time will tell.  Let's check her out!

I think she looks great.  I'm really excited for future females: Invisible Woman, Storm, and Elektra seem like shoe-ins for future figures.

Shes' articulated at the head, shoulders, wrists, and her legs are articulated as a single piece.

Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!

Here she is with the Imaginext Catwoman

Here she is with two other Super Hero Adventures figures: Hulk and Lizard.

And here she is with two Marvel Superhero Squad figures: On the Left is the comic version Black Widow, and on the right is the Movie version Black Widow (from Iron Man 2).

Cheers!

  1. I like it! I didn't realize that these are so much shorter then the Imaginext figures.

    1. Yeah I was a little surprised at that too. Plus she's significantly shorter than the males in the line so she's even more diminutive. I can't wait to see more!

  2. Saw her over at the AFI forums. She's cute but TINY! I hope she shows up in an accessible set (2 figures) and not a big multi-pack (6 plus figures) but I won't hold my breath.

    1. Knowing their reluctance to incorporate females into their preschool lines, she'll probably be buried in a giant S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier playset (MSRP: Your retirement fund)

  3. She's part of a K-Mart exclusive 6-pack with her fellow Avengers. :)

    1. Awesome thanks! I'll have to steal a pic from ebay and attach it to this post.
