Assault on Arkham HARLEY QUINN!

Batman: Assault on Arkham - Best Buy Exclusive Figurine - Warner Bros 2014

First off, I apologize for the inactivity on this website lately.  I've had two wonderfully relaxing week-long vacations in the last month and I was totally disconnected from technology both times.  Luckily I didn't stop amassing ideas and toys for future reviews during my hiatus so now I'm back with plenty of ammunition.  Last Tuesday I went on a hunt for the newly released Batman: Assault on Arkham original movie from Warner Bros Animation.  I had a hunch a few weeks before and googled to see if there might be an exclusive figurine.  My hunch was correct and I found a blurry solicit image of a Harley figurine sporting this very cool new look.  This costume is my favorite redesign - after the original, of course.  I would love to see this in a large scale from DC Collectibles like the Justice League: War and Throne of Atlantis figures.  The movie is a story set in the world of the Arkham videogame franchise, but incorporating many elements of the New52 Suicide Squad - and I think the costume is a great blend of the two.

The graphics on the box make Harley look cooler than she does on the figurine and in the movie itself.  Kudos to that cover artist for really knocking these illustrations out of the park.

My figure has a few sloppy paint lines but is otherwise very well made.  It's really hard to pick a perfect figure in the shadowy box.  She is not articulated at all (despite having neck and shoulder "joints")

Here are some images of Harley Quinn from the movie.  You'll notice the animated outfit doesn't look as edgy and cool as the box illustrations.  Also, a few things of note:  She barely wears her costume in the film.  I watched the DVD twice and I think she only wears it in two scenes.  The rest of the time she's sporting blonde pigtails.  And the other thing I felt I should mention is the R-rated nature of the movie.  I honestly never expected to see Harley having sex when I popped in the DVD in front of my nieces and nephews.  Be warned.

Killer Frost is a character I don't know much about, but she was a great addition to the Suicide Squad roster.  Also, Poison Ivy has several super cool scenes at the end of the film.  She has no lines, but who needs them when you're commanding an army of vines.

Time for some Comparison Pics!
Here she is with the WBShop.com DKR Blu-Ray figure and the Best Buy Batman: Year One Blu-Ray figure.

Here she is with the JLU figure and the 2010 Hallmark ornament.

Cheers!

    1. Thanks it was thoroughly enjoyable! Yeah I'm smitten over this girl. I had to drive 45 minutes while on vacation to find a Best Buy. I'm glad I did though because I've casually checked a couple stores since I've been back and they seem to be sold out everywhere.

  2. I've gotta say, this is just about my favourite redesign for Harley yet, second only to her original duds. It's got attitude and it shows just enough skin without being ridiculous like her New 52 comics look. I do hope we get a proper 6-7 inch scale figure of this design from DC Collectibles someday!

    1. I agree this is a thousand times better than the Suicide Squad or Arkham Asylum outfits. But how do you feel about her roller girl design from her solo series? We are getting a figure of that from DCC. It was shown at SDCC on preview night but with no photos allowed.

    2. The Roller Girl look is okay, but it just reminds me of the Bombshell throwback look which I do like better. The Assault on Arkham look still beats all those outfits out for me though. It changes just enough from the original harlequin jumpsuit; I think the rest of these looks have been too much of a departure. I do like what I'm seeing of her Arkham Knight outfit so far though, especially the cap.

  3. I had no idea this was out there. I'll have to see if I can track it down!

    1. Yeah these Bluray figurines are sneaky. I missed the DKR Catwoman and it took me forever to get her on ebay. You can actually still order Harley on bestbuy.com for 19.99 (free shipping over $35). The store finder says no stock any near me anymore. Good luck!
