Ghostbusters Afterlife - LUCKY!

Ghostbusters: Afterlife - Plasma Series Wave 1 - Lucky - Hasbro 2021

I'm very excited for Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Something about the tone of the trailers thrills me. I had high hopes for the 2016 Ghostbusters movie, but I didn't enjoy it at all (in my opinion they got the comic ratio wrong... four comedians is just too much. They needed two comedians and two stiffs to get that right dynamic. Even when not telling jokes outright, something about comic actors always seems farcical and changes the tone. End rant). Afterlife, however, seems very different. The rural setting alone is major shift. Not to mention the youthful characters. With the movie still months away from release it's hard to speculate too much, but my anticipation is high. I think this Lucky figure is a bit of a spoiler in itself. Before this toy, I had no idea she would be wearing a uniform. All promotional materials and trailers (lightly) imply that she's a love interest to Trevor and is only ever seen in street clothes and a fast food uniform. But even if this is a spoiler, it just makes me more excited for the movie.

Lucky has: a ball-jointed head; hinge-and-swivel shoulders, elbows and hips; swivel waist, thigh cuts, and boots; double-hinged knees; and wrists that seem like simple post swivels, but it's hard to tell with her cuffs.

Lucky comes with a Ghost Trap on wheels (so smart!), a Proton Backpack, a Proton Blaster, and a Proton Beam energy effect in purple and orange. (The other characters appear to have blue and orange energy effects).

Lucky comes with the head of the Build-a-Ghost Sentinel Terror Dog.

I couldn't find any pictures online of Lucky in her Ghostbusters uniform.
She always seems to be wearing her Spinners shirt.

In all the solicitation photos for this toyline, they show a 7th figure, Phoebe (Egon Spengler's Granddaughter). From promotional materials and trailers, it seems like she's a pretty prominent character. And McKenna Grace is an amazing young actor. I read a release from Hasbro Pulse that said she would be released with additional figures in late Fall 2021. Curious to see what a second wave might include.

Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!

Here is Lucky along side the toys from Ghostbusters (2016). I wasn't a fan of this movie, but I loved the concept and I had high expectations. The toys also fell a little flat. Hasbro has really upped the ante with their face-scanning technology.

Cheers!
