Jurassic World Dominion - CLAIRE DEARING!

Jurassic World: Dominion - Claire Dearing and Dilophosaurus - Mattel 2022

I love Bryce Dallas Howard. I first took note of her in The Village back in 2004 and she has been a favorite ever since. Every few years I see her in a performance and am in awe of her talent. She's definitely not just coasting on a family name. My favorite was the Nosedive episode of Black Mirror. She was just brilliant in that and I've watched it 10 times. I'm saying all this because I know most people might only know her from the Jurassic World franchise. And as a fan of both the actor and the movies, I can admit that these roles don't utilize her talent to the highest level and therefore she might be underestimated by the audience. But kudos to her for getting that franchise cash and taking on a role that gets you repeatedly immortalized in plastic. This is the third action figure of Bryce as Claire Dearing (plus one Imaginext figure). I know she technically had a figure in the Twilight line as Victoria the Vampire, but I always had a sneaking suspicion that figure was based off actress Rachelle Lefevre who originated the role.

But beyond that, she has played Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man 3, Kate Connor in Terminator Salvation, plus other notable (but not-so-toyetic) roles in films Lady in the Water, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and others. I heard Ian McKellan on a talk show once joking that after playing Magneto and Gandalf that he was only going to take roles where action figures would be made of him. Bryce is one of those actors who has potential to do the same. I just know she'll enter the MCU one of these years and I can also see her being a great Wonder Woman villain. I'm excited to see where she'll pop up next. In the meantime, here is her most recent toy, Claire Dearing from the upcoming Jurassic World: Dominion.

The actor likenesses in this line are never great, but this is the best version so far. I also noted that all versions of this figure I saw in the store had slightly crooked facial features. I don't know if it's intentional or not, but it seems to be consistent. I don't mind it. It balances her asymmetrical hair.

Claire comes with a rifle and a handheld radio.
The black accessory is spit from the Dilophosaurus' mouth.

All the recent dinosaur releases I've purchased have this feature where a plastic tab can slide out a "DNA Card." Apparently there is an app where would can scan these cards to retrieve dinosaur facts. It's a little gimmicky, but it doesn't distract from the dinosaur sculpt too much so I don't mind.

Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!

Here are the three Claire Dearing figures together. Claire (v1), Claire (v3), and Claire (v2).

Cheers!
