Black Adam - CYCLONE!

DC Multiverse - Black Adam (Movie) - Cyclone - McFarlane Toys 2022

The majority of female DC characters released by McFarlane Toys are truly great and I have no complaints. However, I honestly can't say the same for their movie-based releases. So far there have been several cinematic figures for Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, and Catwoman, and unfortunately none of them are especially good likenesses. This Cyclone is played by an actor who is largely unfamiliar to me (Quintessa Swindell), but even from the brief glimpses I've seen, this figure does not do them justice. The facial expression is very glum and appears significantly older than the youthful 25 they are. Additionally, the other toys and images I've seen incorporate a ton of bright purple in the costume design. In this figure most of those bright colors have been swapped out for black. I'm leaning heavily towards the likelihood that this figure was created from earlier concepts. It's not a bad figure overall, but it just pales in comparison to the quality of recent comic releases. Let's check out Cyclone below!

Quintessa Swindell is a biracial nonbinary actor. I feel like the skin tone on this figure misses the mark for portraying their complexion appropriately. This figure was my first exposure the DCEU Cyclone design, and until I read the tie-in comic and started to see images from the trailer, I had no clue they were a POC. This hair is also portrayed as being much brighter red than we'll likely see on screen. I suspect Cyclone will have dark brown hair with reddish hues. Again, I believe this figure was likely created from early costume tests.

Cyclone's hairline sculpt is a bit of a mess. The hairpiece has a rather abrupt sculpted edge which was "softened" with the addition of painted-on baby hairs and hairline texture. It passes the squint test fine, but upon close inspection it looks like a rushed afterthought.

Cyclone comes with a figure stand and a cyclone base (with a foot peg inside).

I think the cyclone base is pretty great. The only issue is that her legs are so long and soft that she can barely hold a pose long enough to snap a photo before slowly tipping over.

She also comes with a Collector's Card.

Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!

Here are the three main Cyclone figures so far: Spin Master 3.75", McFarlane Multiverse, and Spin Master 12".

Cheers!
