MAFEX - Batman: Hush - CATWOMAN!

MAFEX #123 - Batman: Hush (Jim Lee) - Catwoman - Medicom Toys 2021

Hush is probably my favorite Batman storyline of all time. It ran twelve issues from Batman #608 (2002) through Batman #619 (2003) and featured nearly all of the active bat-characters at the time with a story by Jeph Loeb and art by the one-and-only Jim Lee. Everything about it was iconic and it's amazing to see it's still being celebrated (and merchandized) twenty years later. One of the unsung side-effects of Hush though was the elevation of Catwoman's utilitarian costume to permanent status. We may take this black goggled costume for granted now, but when Hush started, Selina had been wearing it less than a year. I feel that there is always danger of a new costume fading into obscurity too soon. The Darwyn Cooke redesign was amazing, but not everyone was into the stylized art in the Catwoman title, so its future was uncertain. But there was something about seeing the costume through the filter of an industry legend like Jim Lee that got everyone on board. This MAFEX figure perfectly captures that look.

I have had these MAFEX figures since each one was released, but I just opened them recently and am highly impressed by the quality. It makes me think I have to start getting all the Marvel figures too. Let's check out Catwoman below!

Catwoman comes with three heads (and two belt pieces). I will be mixing up the combinations throughout this post.

As mentioned above, Catwoman comes with three heads, twelve hands, an articulated whip, and two abdomen pieces displaying different belts.

Catwoman also comes with a flight stand.

Her whip is segmented at three points and can rotate with a simple peg-in-hole articulation.

Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!

Here is the MAFEX Catwoman with the 2004 DC Direct Hush Catwoman.

And here are the Gotham City Sirens trio together:
MAFEX Hush Poison Ivy, MAFEX Hush Harley Quinn, and MAFEX Hush Catwoman.

And with the MAFEX Hush Huntress added to the mix.
These are the four costumes females from the Hush storyline. What a great lineup.

Cheers!
