The Masters of the Universe Origins Cartoon Collection is absolutely thrilling me. One of the reasons I didn't become a toy collector earlier in my life is because three of my favorite nostalgic properties didn't have action figures. Jem, Transformers, and She-Ra all had toys, but I specifically wanted cartoon-accurate action figures of female characters.. and all we got was guys and dolls. Even in the superhero arena, if you exclude the occasional early Wonder Woman figure, female heros didn't hit the toy aisles until the mid to late 90s. When the Cartoon Collection gave us Teela, Evil-Lyn, and She-Ra early on, I was very happy, but not surprised. There had been multiple attempts to give us classic Filmation style versions of these characters. But it's this second batch of Frosta, Catra, and Shadow Weaver that has me giddy. Even the male characters like Leech, Vultak, Mantenna, and Grizzlor are filling huge gaps in the vintage lines. I can't wait to see who is next. Let's check out Frosta below!
Frosta comes with two icy coiled power effect accessories.
I was excited to see that underneath Frosta's rubbery skirt, her pelvis piece is sculpted with the tunic edges that imply other characters like Adora, Glimmer, etc will be using this mold in the future.
I was excited to pair Frosta with this stand-in for her icy steed, Winter.
This horse is a Paddock Pals blueberry-scented unicorn named Blu from Breyer in the current assortment at FiveBelow. I know that Winter's color can be up for debate. He/She appears in two quick frames in the same episode (Loo-Kee Lends a Hand) and in one frame appears pale green and in the other pale blue. Considering Winter isn't a real horse, but rather an ice construct, I always thought the blue look was more accurate. But there is also a pale green horse with a crystal mane and tail in the same Breyer assortment named Pomona.
Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!
And here is Frosta with her MOTUC and MasterVerse figures.
Cheers!
