Masters of the Universe - EVIL-LYN!

Masters of the Universe - Collectible Figures #9/10 - Evil-Lyn - Altaya 2022/23

Something I especially like about these French/Spanish Masters of the Universe figurines from Altaya is that they have very similar poses and styles to the Pop Culture Shock statue series (distributed by Sideshow). I always coveted these statues, but they were way out of my price range. These newer figurines are like miniature versions of those masterpieces. Despite all of Evil-Lyn's transformations over the year (thankfully almost always true to her signature design), I will always be most fond of her original 1983 Filmation design with pale yellow skin, purple and blue clothing, and a long black cape. Her scenes from the first (aired) episode, The Diamond Ray of Disappearance, are dynamic and amazing. The image of her standing atop a mountain with her cape billowing while Skeletor announces her, "Evil Lyn, Sorceress of Night!" was fused into my young brain. Having a new representation of her from that era to add to my collection thrills me. Let's check her out below!

These figurines are made of a lightweight plastic. Their stands are even hollow.
They each come in a bubble-card on (pretty flimsy) cardboard. The cardback is essentially featureless.
The figure comes in a large polybag with a comic-sized magazine.

These figurines were originally released in Spain, with a second release in France roughly six months behind. The release numbers are fairly consistent, but 8 of the 77 characters (Orko, Hordak, Ram-Man, Trap Jaw, Whiplash, Stratos, Evil Lyn, and Randor) have different numbers depending of the Country of release.

Here is the Pop Culture Shock Evil-Lyn statue from 2015.
The pose and style of many Altaya figurines remind me strongly of this statue line.

Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!

Here are a few Filmation-style Evil-Lyns.
From Left to Right: MOTUC Club Grayskull (2016), Altaya Figurine (2022/2023), and MOTUO (2024).

And here is a montage I made of all the MOTU ladies in this series. I resized all the images using the fact that their bases are the same size (not a perfect method so the scales might be slightly off). But then the bases were so wide that I photoshopped them away to space them closer together.

From Left to Right: Shokoti, Teela, Dree-Elle, Sorceress, Evil-Lyn, Queen Marlena, and Kittrina.

And here are the Altaya POP ladies for good measure:
