Of all the main characters in the live-action How to Train Your Dragon (2025) movie, I think Ruffnut is the most changed. When I watched the movie a few weeks ago, I can admit she and her brother didn't really stand out the way they did in the numerous animated incarnations preceding this film. The characters were always portrayed physically odd... super tall and hunched over with long dopey faces and limbs that seemed weighed down by fatigue or boredom. Then was their personalities... they were mischievous and conniving. They just looked like they were up to no good. I didn't get that vibe from this movie, but hopefully in the the sequel (currently filming) they'll get fleshed out more. (Full confession, I was full-out sick for all of mid-January when I watched this, so take my interpretation/memories with a huge grain of salt). The actress Bronwyn James is having a moment right now having starred in both Wicked movies and now the Dragons franchise. I'm looking forward to seeing her again.
Ruffnut has seven points of articulation: ball-post shoulders, head, and hips, and then hinge-and-swivel knees.
Ruffnut and Tuffnut's 2-Headed Dragon steed is simply named after its species, the Hideous Zippleback.
We know this beast's name to be Barf & Belch from the previous movies. I frankly don't remember if the Dragons get personalized names in the live-action movie.
Ruffnut and Tuffnut can also mount the saddles on their dragon's necks. There are pegs on the saddles and holes on the inner thighs of the riders to hold them in place. My pics of them astride their steed did not turn out (and the limited articulated of the riders does not make for a natural-looking pose anyway).
Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!
Here is Ruffnut with her twin Tuffnut.
My Tuffnut has his face completely mis-printed with his lips and eyes painted to the Left his sculpted features.
Here are the two female figures from How to Train Your Dragon (2025):
And here are all my Dragons figures from various iterations of the franchise. From Left to Right: Jun Wong (2022), Astrid Hofferson (2019), Ruffnut Thorston (2025), Astrid Hofferson (2015), Astrid Hofferson (2025), Ruffnut Thorston (2020), and Alex Gonzales (2021).
Cheers!
