TOY FAIR 2015 Coverage - FUNKO!

 POP! - Dorbz - Legacy - ReAction - Mopeez

I spent all Saturday the 14th at Toy Fair in New York and I had a really fun and exhausting time as usual. I had the same issues as previous years being a small scale blogger blockaded from the bigger showrooms (Hasbro, Mattel,  LEGO, Bandai, etc), but I've come to expect that.  Luckily the rest of the companies more than make up for it.  I kind of feel bad for the folks that are still there because it's freaking cold out.  I just checked the weather in New York and it's 6°F with a wind chill of -7°F.  It's the season of staying on the couch, not traipsing to and from the Javits Center.

Funko once again had one of the best displays at NYTF.  They have a huge section, they are completely open and inviting, their products are diverse, and their staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I'm smitten.  But at the same time I'm afraid they might grow into one of those super-popular companies that put up walls and require invites.  I wish them the best for a successful future, but I'm greedy and I want them still to be the lovingly accessible company that they are today.

Anyway, let's check out the goodies!

I'll start with their most famous line:

POP!

There are always a ton of Funko products revealed at Toy Fair, so each of these sections will highlight the ones that made me personally squee the most.

Lily Munster
I've been waiting a long time for a Pop of this lady.

Black Canary

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Agent Melinda May

First live look at
Nebula

The Fifth Element

Rocky Horror Picture Show!

and my personal favorite
Arkham Asylum Catwoman

Mopeez
Very sad (but cute) plush heroes

Batgirl

Harley Quinn

Interesting that in the 2015 product catalog Batgirl is shown in her classic '66 TV colors.  I think this is a prototype version that we're unlikely to see, but cool nonetheless.

Dorbs

These are my favorite new product in the Funko Booth.  There is a whole suite of products by Vinyl Sugar, but to me these 'dorbs take the cake.  They are 3" tall and have a crazy character selection already.  My only fear is the price point.  I have no idea what it might be, but the Vinyl Vixens were a lot more than I expected and I'm afraid these might be, too.

ReAction

The Fifth Element

Star Trek: The Original Series

The Karate Kid

Tomorrowland

Arrow

The Legacy Collection

Evolve

Firefly

He may not be a lady, but I'll totally be making room for Rocketeer in my collection.

I was really hoping to see some products based on their Dark Crystal and Voltron licenses (there is a Voltron in the Sci-Fi Mystery Minis Series 2 assortment, but I want more!).

---

I wonder how many toy geeks were dumped this weekend after choosing Toy Fair over Valentine's Day.  Luckily I have very understanding partner in crime (I even got chauffeured to-and-from the train station!).  But, just to be safe, I really hope TIA chooses another time slot next year.

Three more NYTF posts are coming!
Cheers!

    1. It's funny that I didn't realize who Agent May was right away. And they were displaying her with the Age of Ultron figures so I thought she was the Wasp. I probably looked pretty special trying to find her wings. I can't wait for Uhura and Vina!

    1. One of my favorite movies, too. I'm also a big fan of Eve Salvail as a model, singer, and DJ so I love her cameos as an alien in disguise. I don't want to get your hopes up too bad, but I swear I overheard one of the Funko reps telling someone that there is a Legacy 5th Element line coming. It's possible the rep was mistaken, but I would love that so much.
