Star Wars 6" Black Series - CAPTAIN PHASMA!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Black Series 06 - Captain Phasma - Hasbro 2015

Of all the things to look forward to in The Force Awakens, I think I'm most anticipating the character of Captain Phasma.  I'm especially curious to see if she's even portrayed as a female. Everyone knows it's Gwendolyn Christie under the helmet, and it's a safe assumption that her voice will be altered in a genderless vader-ish kind of way.  I guess my curiosity is whether or not she will remove her helmet at any point in the film and reveal her gender. Although, I would kind of enjoy it if it were not made explicitly clear that she's female.  I guess we'll all know soon enough. I was really really impressed by this figure. I didn't think it would be able to top the Disney Store Elite Series Captain Phasma, but it totally does.  The articulation and proportions are superior in my opinion.  Plus there is likely to be many more 6" scale figures in the future rather than the 7" of the Disney figures.  Let's check out Captain Phasma in detail below!

Phasma comes with a small rifle.

This is the pose she was in after I pried her from the package.  I thought it was funny so I had to take a pic. It looks like a threatening glock pose to me.

Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!

On the Right is the Disney Store Elite Series Die-Cast figure.

And here they're switched (I'm not sure why I did that).

And adding the 3.75" Captain Phamsa.

And here with Rey, currently the only other female in the Force Awakens Black Series.

Cheers!

  1. Awesome figure!
I won't spoil the movie for you, but it looked like it was really hard for them to keep fingerprint smudges off of that shiny chrome costume

    1. oh no.. my ocd brain will be going crazy over smudges. I'm seeing it in Imax 3D on Thursday so all the imperfections will be super enlarged haha.

    2. I saw it today and I loved it. I actually liked how Phasma and Kylo Ren's costumes had imperfections. It shows how the First Order wasn't as perfect and seamless as they appear. Or maybe that's me just being poetic.

  2. Just found the 3.75" Hasbro... she has been a challenge to find, & I'm certain that's the case with the 6"

    1. I'm been surprised at the overall lack of product on the shelves. One of my friends is a HUGE Star Wars fanatic and he said that Hasbro really overstocked for Episode I way back in the day and the products were clogging the shelves. He said that he read that they "wouldn't make the same mistake again" -- so i guess now everything is scarce. I luckily got my 3.75" Phasma on Force Friday.

  3. Was she EVER useless in the movie... :( And seriously, they had female stormtroopers other than her, and did not make their armor more feminine? Do they all squish their boobs into these flat armors? I was very dissapointed in the armor designs there. Phasma herself did not look female at all, they could have had her being played by a guy and just voice-coded...

  4. I just found her on a supermarket toy aisle, months after its release!
Man, I got sooo lucky! She's amazing! I kinda wish her cape was removable but you can still get some cool poses anyway.
I've always wanted to comment on your reviews because I love your blog, but I've never had anything relevant to say :P I wanted to share my excitement haha!

    1. That's great news! I haven't seen her on the shelves in ages so you really lucked out. Looking back at all my Force Awakens collectibles, this figure is my favorite. I may be crazy, but isn't the head removable so the cape can come off? I'll have to try it tonight. Thanks for finally chiming in! fear not, I swear anything you say will be deemed relevant :)

    2. She's actually my first Black Series figure! I almost bought the Elite Series Phasma but I opted out after I checked out some reviews. The screw holes really turned me off from it. But it was too late and the Black Series had already disappeared from racks so I just sighed and hoped to get the Figuarts Phasma. And now after seeing that the Figuarts is so tiny I'm extremely happy I stumbled on this one. <3 She's huge and she's really stable!

I haven't seen anyone remove the head D: I'm afraid to try it myself, I don't know what kind of joint is in the neck, though I presume it's a balljoint.

And thank you! <3 I'll definitely try and be more participative. It's great attitudes like yours that make figure collecting such a fun experience. :D
