DC SuperHero Girls - Playset Exclusive BATGIRL!

DC Super Hero Girls - Super Hero High School Playset Batgirl - Mattel 2016

One of the things I'm most looking forward to at SDCC is news about future action figures in the DC Super Hero Girls line. Hopefully Mattel includes them in their display. There was so much hype over the unveiling of these toys, that after the first week on the shelves I was in a slump and eagerly wanting more. There are lots of additional characters and variants that are just dying for inclusion. This variant of Batgirl (that is exclusive to the Super Hero High School playset) was shown at Toy Fair, but the photos from the showroom floor didn't show much detail. I was expecting a repaint with a different hairpiece and a helmet accessory, but in reality she is a complete retooling of the original figure. The only parts used from the original figure seem to be the belt/pelvis piece, her face, and her hands. Hopefully this bodes well for future figures. The Bat-specific details sculpted into her knees and boots probably means we'll get at least another Batgirl release. Let's check out this exclusive figure below!

Just like the last Batgirl, I think this version looks better without her headpiece.

Time for some Comparison Pics!

Here she is with the original release. You can see almost every part of her body has added sculptural details. I especially like the bat symbols on her kneepads and boots.

You can swap their headpieces, but they don't fit so well without their intended hair.

Cheers!

  1. So, how much does the playset cost?

    1. I picked up mine at TRU for $45, but I think regular retail is $49.99. I'll be selling my playset (sans Batgirl) on ebay.

    1. I'm assuming people will be selling her on ebay loose. I'm sure lots of the moms out there buying this for their kid won't want to replace the standard issue Batgirl with this one. The savvy moms will realize they can sell her for $10 and recoup some of the cost of the playset.

  3. I'm glad to see that the playset Batgirl isn't just a repaint of the regular release Batgirl

    1. Yes the added details are an unexpected bonus. I'm hoping there us some word about future figures at SDCC this week, but it doesn't look like any of the panels will touch on this property :\
