The Walking Dead - LYDIA!

The Walking Dead - Comic Series 5 - Lydia - McFarlane Toys 2016

It's pretty sad that the 5" scale Walking Dead series seems to have drawn to a close. The new larger-scale staction-like Color Tops figures seem to be the new standard going forward. I'm not sure how I feel about the shift honestly. I haven't bought any yet, but the upcoming Labyrinth and Dark Crystal Color Tops will definitely be added to my collection. There are rumors that Walgreens will carry some additional 5" Walking Dead figures this year, so I'll be keeping my eyes out for that. I still haven't read any Walking Dead comics, so this Lydia character is unknown to me. I know she was a member of the Whisperers who wear skinned zombie heads as hoods to blend in with the walkers. I'm so disturbed and intrigued by this group. Lydia's mother, Alpha, is the leader (and was a Skybound exclusive figure in 2015). Lydia's story has her getting rejected from the Whisperers and joining the main group (eventually having a romantic relationship with Carl). That's all I've learned so far. Let's check her out below!

I've found that a lot of Walking Dead toys contain spoiler-ish accessories. In this case, it's Ezekiel's head on a spike. Like I've mentioned before, I haven't read the books. For all I know this happened 5 years ago.

The skinned walker masks are so creepy.

Time for some Comparison Pics!

Here she is with her mother, Alpha.

And with an assortment of non-television figures: Michonne (v2), Andrea, Lydia, Alpha, and Clementine.

Cheers!

  1. That's Ezekiel's head by the way. Love the reviews though! Walgreens will have an exclusive Aaron and Rick figure coming out. Nothing has been said about the comic line going exclusive. I think it was only the shows line going to 7 inch. They look awful and I've only seen them clogging up the shelves.

    1. Ha thanks! I knew it was a religious name. I edited it in the review. There seems to be big fan demand for Lori, but at this point I'll doubt they'll backtrack so far. I'm curious to see what they show at Toy Fair. I hope this general size isn't kaput because I desperately want more Saga figures, too.

  2. The comic is fantastic, I highly recommend it.
The new mini statues Colour tops are terrible. I got Michonne, as she looks good but no posing whatsoever. The Fear the Walking Dead, look nothing like the actors, and the pegs of the bases break very easily, and cannot stand without the base.
So disappointed they stop the TV figures, as about 4 female characters might never get done (Lori, Tara, Sasha and Rosita). The comic base figures should carry on, so at least I expect to see Lori and Rosita ( the other two don't exist in the comic, if I am not wrong.

    1. Did you see that the 5" Sasha will be a Walgreens Exclusive? She looks good. I can't wait to find her.
