Transformers: Titans Return - NAUTICA!

Transformers Titans Return: Chaos on Velocitron Box Set - Nautica - Hasbro 2017

One of the things that has always bothered me about female Transformers is that, historically, a lot of the toys have only been slightly retooled male figures with a stereotypical feminine paintjob. Recently we've been really spoiled with the newer Arcee, Chromia, and Windblade figures, but I haven't forgotten the blocky history. This Nautica is the first figure I've bought that has followed the old "recycled-male pattern." She is essentially a purple Blurr, but I was so excited to get a Nautica figure that I overlooked my previous resistance. I always kind of thought Blurr had a feminine build anyway. I don't know much about Nautica's backstory, but when Windblade was introduced and I started reading Transformers comics again, she was a regular character. She is super intelligent and is a quantum mechanic from Caminus. This figure doesn't really look like the comic character, so I'm hoping for a re-do now that she's on Hasbro's radar (maybe with her friend Firestar!) Let's check out Nautica below!

Her shoulder rotors are easily removable.  Below are a few pics with them removed.

Here are some pics of the other characters in this box set: Quickswitch, Fastclash, Laser Prime, and headmaster Rodimus Prime.

Nautica's vehicle mode isn't a space-faring submarine like in the comics. Also, her head is a headmaster.

Her gun is meant to mount under the nose of her vehicle mode.

Here she is next to Blurr.

Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!

From Left to Right: Strongarm, Nautica, and Chromia.

Cheers!

  1. She's nice. Good thing the boxset has some other figures I like, so I won't feel so silly buying it just for her!

Btw, in case you didn't see, the next wave of the 5" Power Rangers movie figures will have Rita!

    1. Actually I posted the other figures on ebay and essentially got Nautica for free when all was said and done. So I don't feel silly for buying the set at all.

I did see that Rita figure on ebay already (in TX and AZ) and also an unannounced 12" rita. Plus at toy fair they said there will be a morphin power rita with a spinning staff (as opposed to the lightup features that the good guys have).

    1. That's a pretty cool add-on. I'd love to see it on a figure.

  3. we're getting Novastar (Firestar) and Moonracer in Power of the Primes, if you like female transformers.

    1. I saw that and I'm pretty excited. But I'm also afraid they will use distinctly male bucks like nautica and arcee have. The Elta-one doesn't look much like her cartoon appearance and I'm nervous Firestar and Moonracer will get the same half-assed treatment.
