I Am Elemental - ELEMENTS OF WISDOM!

I Am Elemental - Elements of Power Series 2: Wisdom - Rebel Elements 2016

Sometimes I buy a lot of action figures all at once and then get overwhelmed at the thought of opening, photographing, and displaying them. That is literally the only drawback to maintaining this website; I no longer get to experience the frantic tearing open of my toys as soon as I get them home. But on the plus side, the photography process has created a new unboxing ritual that is very enjoyable in its own way... when I eventually get around to it. That brings us to one of my favorite toy lines in recent memory: I Am Elemental. I've had this second series unopened on a storage shelf for 4 years, which is a shame because this is an amazing line that I'm excited to display. The colorfully costumed heroines, the crayola spectrum of skintones, and the trademark domino masks create a unique product that is unlike anything else out there. And this Wisdom series stepped it up a notch with even brighter colors and wilder accessories. I can't believe I sat on them so long. Let's check them out below!

There are lots of options to buy these figures on the I Am Elemental website, but I think the lunchbox is the best deal. You'll get all seven figures from the set and several add-in items. There are other options that are nicer for display purposes (the Collector's Tin is especially nice), but I'm an opener personally.

Inside the collector's lunch box are two plastic trays which hold all the figures.

Without further ado, in no particular order...

CURIOSITY

“Be curious. Read widely. Try new things. What people call intelligence just boils down to curiosity.”
- Aaron Swartz

Definition: Curiosity has the desire to learn and know everything.
Superpower: She has the ability to communicate in any language.

Curiosity's warrior skirt is inspired by the deep blue of outer space and the solar system.
(There are planet designs carved into the back of the waist).

These figures follow the format of having a standard body, with a unique headsculpt and accessory for each.
Then the colors further differentiate the characters from each other. They also come with a shield accessory with their name and "element" (element of power) on the front.

INGENUITY

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
- Albert Einstein

Definition: Ingenuity is an inventive and resourceful problem solver.
Superpower: She has the ability to change herself to mimic her environment.

Her octopus tentacle is inspired by the remarkable problem-solving skills of the octopus.

LOGIC

“Logical consequences are the scarecrows of fools and the beacons of wise men.”
- Thomas Huxley

Definition: Logic uses reason to make connections between facts and draw conclusions.
Superpower: She has the ability to always distinguish what is true from what is false.

Her shoulder armor is inspired by symmetry and geometrical shapes.

CREATIVITY

“Everything you can imagine is real.”
- Pablo Picasso

Definition: Creativity uses her imagination to dream up original ideas.
Superpower: She has the ability to imagine any object into being.

Her crossbow is inspired by Artemis, the Greek Goddess of the Hunt.

MASTERY

“I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.”
- Bruce Lee

Definition: Mastery trains to become an expert in everything she does.
Superpower: She has the ability to create physical duplicates of herself.

Her cloak is inspired by a Punk/British schoolboy combination.

OBLIVION

“Keep your head in the clouds, and your feet on the ground.”
- Anon.

Definition: Oblivion wears blinders and has her head in the clouds.
Superpower: She has the ability to erase the memories of others.

Her cloud accessory is inspired by “head in the clouds” imagery.

EXPLORATION

“Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.”
- Carl Sagan

Definition: Exploration investigates and takes voyages of discovery.
Superpower: She has the ability to transport herself anywhere in the world.

Her wings are inspired by the mechanical flight drawings of Leonardo da Vinci.

Some additional add-ins from within the lunchbox include (1) seven figure stands, (2) character trading cards for each of the seven characters, (3) a fold-out insert, (4) a 42-page activity book, and (5) a rubber wristband that can hold their shields as a charm bracelet.

Here is an image of the Series 1: Courage lineup. You can seen how the color theme moved from silver bodysuits and warm skintones to the bronze bodysuits and cooler skintones.

Their are seven waves of figures planned and I want nothing more than to see them all produced.
They make awesome presents for kids and collectors alike. This is a company I have been following since the original Kickstarter, I've met them at Toy Fair, and I love to give my support.

Time for a Comparison Pic!

Cheers!

  1. This is an awesome set. I've been following this line since the original Kickstarter. The owners say they have at least five more lines scheduled but obviously the sales need to be there. Hope they get the support they need.
