Bucky O-Hare - MIMI LaFLOO!

Bucky O-Hare - Figure #12 - Captain Mimi LaFloo - Boss Fight Studios 2021

Bucky O'Hare is very visually nostalgic to me. Something about the comic covers with their ultra-busy illustrations and bright colors made them really stand out on the comic shelves. Even the small Continuity Comics logo on this figure packaging takes me back to my many hours spent in comic shops as a youth. Something else very unique about the Bucky O'Hare comics was the way Michael Golden would draw eyes. Nowadays, giant irises with color gradients are commonplace, but back then it was very unique. Mimi LaFloo was a mystery to me when Boss Fight Studios first announced her. But I quickly realized that was because she was introduced in the 90's Bucky O'Hare cartoon which I didn't even know existed until recently. But I have a thing for anthropomorphic animal toys, especially foxes, so I was thrilled to get her. In preparing for this review I watched some old episodes and I was happy to see other female characters for BFS to potentially sink their teeth into. Let's check out Mimi below!

Mimi comes with three faceplates, three sets of hands, two pistols, and of course her Captain's hat.

The faceplates fit snugly on her head using a chunky tab system.

Her hat has this great internal structure with two pockets shaped perfectly to her ears. This lets her wear her hat cocked to either side (but not centered on her head).

Similar to my comments in the Jenny review a few years ago, Mimi's articulation is very good, but not quite to the level that BFS has shown with Vitruvian Hacks. For instance, she has a full hip turn-out instead of a thigh cut, her wrists are only swivels, and there aren't any bicep cuts. Don't get me wrong, this still blows most action figures out of the water, I just wanted to state that she is not using the full Hacks system like we might expect from BFS.

Mimi is regularly described as a character created for the cartoon, and not from the comics. However, the cartoon spawned a new generation of comics which featured Mimi a lot. This toy's design seems to be based of those comic designs. I personally thought she looked odd in the cartoon, so I am very happy about this.

Time for some Comparison Pics!

Here she is with the Jenny figure from 2018.

Cheers!
