She-Ra the Princess of Power - HUNTARA!

Masters of the Universe - Collectible Figure #59 - Huntara - Altaya 2024

I'm typically not a huge fan of one-off brutish characters in 80s cartoons, but in Huntara's case I make an exception because I like her purple skin and her design origins. There is a adventure cartoon trope where a new character arrives on the scene and is duped by the bad guys into think the main hero is actually the enemy. The episodes always pan out the same.. with patience, reasoning, and communication winning the day (plus a new hard-won ally for the hero and a thwarted villain). I think this plot existed several times in She-Ra, but the episode "Huntara" from November 1985 definitely seems to have made the most lasting impression. Huntara comes from the warrior planet Silax and is greeted by the deceitful Hordak upon her arrival and convinced that She-Ra is a great scourge to Etheria. She appears very different from other Princess of Power characters with a punk Road Warrior vibe. My favorite tidbit is the writers described her as a "Grace Jones type" and she does indeed resemble the 80's icon.

These figurines are made of a lightweight plastic. Their stands are even hollow.
They each come in a bubble-card on (pretty flimsy) cardboard. The cardback is essentially featureless.
The figure comes in a large polybag with a comic-sized magazine.

These figurines were originally released in Spain, with a second release in France roughly six months behind. The release numbers are fairly consistent, but 8 of the 77 characters (Orko, Hordak, Ram-Man, Trap Jaw, Whiplash, Stratos, Evil Lyn, and Randor) have different numbers depending of the Country of release.

Here are some images of Huntara from her episode.

And the iconic Grace Jones.

Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!

Here is Huntara with her 2014 MOTUC figure.

And here is a montage I made of all the POP ladies in this series. I resized all the images using the fact that their bases are the same size (not a perfect method so the scales might be slightly off). But then the bases were so wide that I photoshopped them away to space them closer together. I'll make a similar one with the eight MOTU ladies soon and add it to all these posts as reference.
