Marvel Legends - VALKYRIE!

Marvel Legends - Hulkbuster Wave - Fearless Defenders - Hasbro 2015

This year has been an absolutely insane one for Marvel Legends. The distribution, production quality, and character selection has been out of this world - and every new wave surprises me even more. When I first saw this Valkyrie figure at conventions and in solicitation images, I was unimpressed. There's no good reason for this, she just looked a little boring and her headsculpt seemed odd. But once again I eat my words because in person this is a pretty fantastic figure. She has one major design flaw which I'll mention below, but other than that, she's a surprisingly great addition to my Marvel Legends ladies. Of course, her inclusion in the line has made me realize how few Norse ladies we have in this scale. Where is Sif? Lady Thor? Enchantress? Not to mention how awesome it would be to get variants of Storm and Moonstar in their Asgardian gear. We have two more years until the next Thor movie. Hopefully we get a wave out of it with lots of these missing women. Let's check out Valkyrie below!

This one and only flaw with this figure is the moulding seam sweeping across her hair.  It's prevalent in every figure of her I've seen so far.  Although what really makes it noticeable is the fact that it is collecting a lot of the darker paint wash used to give her hair texture -- really accentuating the defect in the process.  The later pictures in this review show her with a minor fix.  I took an Xacto blade and tried to trim down the ridge as carefully as I could.  then I used a little piece of a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to remove the built-up dark wash.  It improved her a lot.  I will probably work on her more in the future, but I was happy with the quick fix.

Valkyrie comes with Hulkbuster Iron Man's Right arm and a sword
(the same sword that came with the 2010 Marvel Legends Valkyrie).

Here are some images of Valkyrie from the comics.

Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!

Here she is with her wave-mate Thundra.

And with the only other Thor lady out there, Hela.

It's amazing how much Marvel Legends has changed in five years.  Check her out in comparison to the 2010 Marvel Legends Valkyrie. (NOTE: I touched up the old Valkyrie's crazy eyes many years ago -- consider her customized).

Cheers!

  1. If we're being honest, the extra plates on her abdomen humorously have a naughty, anthro furry female type thing going on in my head. OH, the repaint possibilities. X D
