Power Rangers Dino Drive PURPLE RANGER!

Power Rangers Dino Supercharge - Dino Drive Purple Ranger - Bandai 2016

I've always collected Sentai figures based purely on aesthetic appeal and circumstance (ie.. I thought they looked cool in the store and bought them). But Dino Charge is very different because it's the first season I've ever watched. In fact, I'm watching it right now as I type this. I haven't gotten far enough to see any episodes with the Purple Ranger (the Graphite Ranger was just introduced a few minutes ago), but I'm excited and really enjoying it. It's impressive how many rangers are in this series. So far there are seven (up to my current Netflix-watching point), but from what I gather there will be at least eleven. When I tried to watch the show back in the early nineties, the smoky action scenes and awkward editing turned me off, but in the decades since, all my technical hangups have been resolved. The stories are coherent and the action scenes are fun. I'm a total fan now. This is the second version of Purple Ranger released, with at least one more on the way, plus a 12" figure. Let's check her out below!

This figure finally made me realize there are two distinct themes with the Power Rangers: Dino Charge series; Dinosaurs and Batteries. This "powered up" Dino Drive suit features a big AA Battery motif on the chest. Plus in the show, they actually have extra batteries they slide into their suits and weapons to power up. Dino "Charge" - I get it now.

Update: In my live-watching of the series as I type this, the Purple Ranger just appeared, but it was a male (and an unexpectedly cowardly male at that who relinquished the gem by the end of the episode). I'm assuming the gem will bond with a female soon (I know who, but I'm going to act surprised when ti happens.. stupid wikipedia spoilers).

Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!

Here she is with the Dino Supercharge Purple Ranger.

From Left to Right: Dino Supercharge Purple, Dino Drive Purple, Dino Drive Pink, Dino Charge Pink.

Cheers!
