Rogue One Black Series - JYN ERSO (JEDHA)!

Stars Wars 6" Black Series #22 - Sergeant Jyn Erso (Jedha) - Hasbro 2016

I'm really excited for the next movie in the Star Wars franchise, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. This movie takes place shortly before A New Hope and focuses on the Rebel mission to steal the plans for the Death Star. I love prequel stories like this that expand upon an established story.  Three of my all-time favorite properties thrilled me with expanded comic storylines in the form of Robotech: Invasion, Legends of the the Dark Crystal, and Return to Labyrinth. All three of these books just made me love the original stories even more, and I'm expecting that Rogue One will do the same for my love of Star Wars. The casting of Felicity Jones in the role of Sergeant Jyn Erso seems perfect. I loved her in Theory of Everything and she definitely has that "Star Wars look" like Carrie Fisher, Natalie Portman, and Daisy Ridley before her. I picked up this figure at midnight on Force Friday but am just getting around to reviewing her now. At least I got it done before the movie came out!  Let's check out Jyn Erso below!

Jyn's headwrap and vest are removable. Her belt and holster are probably also removable, but it would require popping off a limb. Her only true accessory is a small pistol.

Time for some Comparison Pics!

Here she is with last year's Black Series Rey.

And here she with the the Elite Series Jyn Erso.

Cheers!

  1. I gave up on Hasbro's Star Wars Black Series last year and defected to S.H. Figuarts, but after seeing your review, I drove up to Target and bought Jyn. I haven't even seen the movie yet, but she's just a really nice 1:12 scale female figure.

Speaking of Figuarts, I've always wondered how you've managed to resist the Japanese toy companies and general and Figma in particular. I started picking up various Figuarts and Figma figures last year, and they've done so many great female characters from anime, manga, video games etc. They are expensive, but with the consistent quality and wide range of accessories, I feel like they're worth it.

    1. Sorry for the delayed response. I'm very late responding to all my messages (it's especially funny because I'm in my car outside my gym procrastinating going in... so of course it's the perfect time to catch up on old messages haha). Anyway, I love figma and SHFiguarts. I'm a big fan all all things Rumiko Takahashi so I have the Lum and Kagome figmas from way back. I'll be buying some of the newer Ranma figures as well. I own the DKR Mafex Catwoman, but I haven't opened or photographed her yet. That SHFIGUARTS Injustice Harley is nice, and I'll eventually pick her up I'm sure. The upcoming Suicide Squad Harleys are going to be interesting. Deciding between Mafex, DCC, and SHF is going to be difficult. I loathe Mattel's figure so I'll be getting at least one of them for sure. I'm likely to stick with characters I'm truly obsessed with at that price point (ie superheroes), so I don't think star wars or Nintendo characters are too hard to resist. Oh also, I've been buying all the Figma Table Museum figures so far. I have Venus de milo, David, and the Thinker.

  2. Impressive review. How do you remove Jyn's vest?
