Marvel Legends - MS. MARVEL (KAMALA KHAN)!

Marvel Legends - Sandman Series - Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan) - Hasbro 2016

Hasbro has been doing a great job at getting new characters on the shelves in record time. I think the fastest has been Spider-Gwen with only 16 months between her first appearance and shelf. Kamala Khan isn't too shabby either at 32 months (Silk at 23 months is another recent notable one). Kamala Khan is the third official Ms. Marvel (I usually exclude Moonstone) and is notable for being the first Muslim character to star in her own book. I love this character. She has a great personality, her costume is a awesome (I love the re-purposing of the lightning bolt and sash), and it doesn't hurt that one of my favorite artists (Takeshi Miyazawa) draws of ton of her issues. I only have one problem with Kamala, but it's a big one... I can't stand her powers. Kamala is a shapeshifting inhuman that can stretch like Mr. Fantastic and Plastic Man. Aesthetically, I just don't like oversized swinging fists, spaghetti arms, and stilt legs. It looks clownish to me. Oh well you can't win them all. Let's check her out below!

Kamala comes with the torso and pelvis of Sandman.

As well as an alternate set of hands (with forearms). They are rigid plastic and connect at the elbow.

Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!

Here she is with her Walgreen's-exclusive Funko POP, her Monogram figural keyring, and her Disney Tsum Tsum. She has a Lego figure coming out in 2017 as well.

Here she is with the Carol Danvers Ms. Marvel and Carol as Captain Marvel. I really hope that with all the potential Captain Marvel figures we will get for the 2019 movie that they manage to squeeze in a Sharon Ventura as Ms. Marvel (She was Ms. Marvel from 1986-1988 before transforming into She-Thing). I always loved her costume, but I know it's too obscure for a real release.

Cheers!

    1. I agree! It's an impressive turnaround time too.

  2. I wouldn't count out a Sharon Ventura completely, they've done some pretty obscure characters in Legends and with new FF figures on the way Sharon could happen

    1. I would be ecstatic! I keep thinking about how the marvel movies keep leading to weird exclusive box sets... like Book of Vishanti for the Dr Strange movie or the EE Comic GOTG set. It will be really interesting to see if a female-led movie will create the same kind of merchandise ripple-effect.

    2. I'd like to think it would be a step in the right direction, we just have to hope that the Snyder-verse WW movie doesn't do more harm than help
