Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 - GAMORA!

Marvel Legends - GOTGv2 Mantis Wave - Daughters of Thanos - Hasbro 2017

This has been a crazy year for Marvel Legends ladies so far. I've picked up eight amazing figures so far (nine if you count Kamala Khan - who I think was technically released in 2016, but didn't hit stores around me till mid-Jan). Then in quick succession was Polaris, Dazzler, and Angela. Now in the past five days I've added Gamora, Mantis, Nebula, Mary Jane, and Sue Storm to my collection. And I can't even wrap my head around the A-Force boxset, the Thor SDCC Exclusive, and the rumored Gwenpool and new Spider-Woman (then of course movie Enchantress, Hela, Jessica Jones, and Elektra). My Marvel Legends shelf is in total disarray and I have no motivation to organize it since it will be changing every month. These new Guardians of the Galaxy figures are gorgeous. I thought the 2014 Gamora figure was pretty nice, but she is nothing compared to this beauty. Zoe Saldana must be so happy that they finally managed to make an action figure that resembles her. Let's check her out below!

Similar to problems I've had photographic DC Collectibles figures in the past. Gamora's skin seems to be cast from a semi-translucent green plastic/resin. It has a soft look in person and adds a subtle lifelike quality that you don't get with painted skin. However, in pictures it tends to look blurry and the painted details sometimes look like their floating off her skin.
Trust me, in person she looks great.

Gamora comes with a big gun and two versions of her signature sword (retracted and extended).

Gamora comes with Mantis' Right Leg.

Gamora's coat is removable if you're so inclined.

Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!

Here she is with the 2014 GOTGv1 Gamora.

Here are the Daughters of Thanos together.

From Left to Right: EE Exclusive Comic Gamora, 2014 Movie Gamora, GOTGv2 Gamora, Marvel Select Comic Gamora, and a random bootleg (don't judge me!).

And the three GOTGv2 ladies together: Mantis, Gamora, and Nebula. Fingers crossed for Ayesha!

Cheers!

  1. Seeing the 2014 action figure again, yeah I like this one better. So, are Mantis and Nebula next?

    1. Actually no I think I'll stagger Gamora - Sue - Nebula, Mary Jane, Mantis ... just to keep it interesting for me :)

  2. The head sculpt is so much more accurate than the 2014 figure. I do slightly prefer the more tactical, less bulky costume from the first movie.

    1. True, the overcoat look is much less functional for someone deemed such a deadly fighter. But I don't think anything beats Starlord's oxblood-colored leather overcoat. I look at it and think "that thing must weight 40 lbs easy"

  3. Agreed! Startlord, look in the mirror before you leave and take one thing off!

  4. Great review. So funny that you have the same problem with your Marvel Legends shelf. I'll sort out my mess in August. Meanwhile my Guardians are in my bathroom window so I can see them every morning.
The three females on this wave are perhaps the best females ever. The sculpt and painting are beyond. They certainly went above and beyond. I resent that I have to buy Star Lord, but I like all the other figures too, specially Rocket and Deaths Head, which I never expected.

  5. Does the new head fit the 1st film figure's body? If so, I may have to purchase two
