A 6-Pack of Repainted DC SUPER HERO GIRLS!

DC Super Hero Girls - "Unique Outifts" Action Collection 6-Pack - Mattel 2017

Yesterday I was bored at work and randomly typed in "DC Super Hero Girls" to Amazon to see if anything new might be on the horizon. I was excited to see three new items listed. Unfortunately they were all higher-priced playets with simple repainted figures: Batgirl and Bat-van, and Bedroom Sets for Harley and Wonder Woman. I added them to my cart but decided to give it a few days before making the purchase. Then a few hours later I stopped in Target and found this unexpected 6-Pack full of repaints. When it rains, it pours. In all honesty, I wouldn't have bought it if it weren't for the new character included in the mix: Beast Boy! I obviously focus most of my purchases on female characters, but I have always had a man-crush little Garfield Logan (he's a green animal-centric changeling - basically my career goals) so I'm super happy he's the first male in the line. The rest of the repaints are a little silly honestly, but having that green goofball makes me very happy with the purchase. Let's check them all out below!

We'll start with

WONDER WOMAN

The difference between this repaint and her first release are that her pant and sleeve colors have been swapped.

From Left to Right: First release, Newest 6-Pack version, Motorcycle version.

Next up is

SUPERGIRL

The difference between this repaint and her first release are that her skirt is now yellow, her shirt is a darker blue, her shoes are blue instead of red, and her sleeves are now lighter blue.

From Left to Right: First release, Newest 6-Pack version, Easter Basket version.

Next up is

HARLEY QUINN

The difference between this repaint and her first release are that her socks are shorts are now red, the background of her shirt is now red instead of white, and her leggings are now black and white instead of red and black.

From Left to Right:  Newest 6-Pack version, First Release version.

Next up is

KATANA

The difference between this repaint and her first release are that her skirt is now red with a white stripe, her boots are red instead of light gray, her shoulder armor is lighter, and her leggings are now black instead of gray.

From Left to Right:  Newest 6-Pack version, First Release version.

Next up is

BATGIRL

The difference between this repaint and her first release are that her hood and torso are now black, and her backpack and pants are now purple instead of black.

From Left to Right: Easter Basket Version, Super Hero High Playset Version, Newest 6-Pack Version, First Release, and Batjet Pilot.

And Finally we have

BEAST BOY

I love all the pink details to his costume and his little pig-version as an accessory. Super cute.

Time for a Group Pic!

Here are all the repainted girls together!

Cheers!

  1. Breast Boy is so cute! I wonder if they'll ever release him as a single carded figure?

Some of the color choices for the repaints seem a tad...random. Do you think they are churning out of these repaints this year due to the line allegedly being rebooted in 2018? I just hope the 2018 figures will be the same scale and style.

    1. I hadn't heard anything about a reboot yet. Where did you read it? I wouldn't normally think repaints are a sign of a dying line, rather just a way to milk as much money out of a mold as possible. By the way, I was at a wedding when I read your comment and your typo made me laugh out loud during the toasts.

  2. OMG, autocorrect hates me, but I'm glad it gave you a laugh - lol.

I should have been more specific, the webseries is being rebooted into a CN TV series. There's no word on toys yet, but it seems conceivable that costume designs are likely to be tweeked and this may lead to yet more variants of the lead rather than any more new characters. Hawkgirl and Starfire are being released in a 9 character box set, similar to Beast Boy. I really want all the characters but it irritates me when I have to buy box sets with characters I already own to do it.

  3. Do the recolors make anyone else think of Disney princesses? Well, mainly Supergirl with the Snow White colors. That has to be intentional.
