Marvel Legends - CAPTAIN MARVEL (Movie)!

Marvel Legends Kree Sentry Series - Captain Marvel (Helmeted) - Hasbro 2019

I'm very excited about the Captain Marvel movie. When I was a kid I was obsessed with the comic Spidey Super Stories. In issue #22 I was first exposed to Carol Danvers as Ms. Marvel and I just thought she was fantastic. As I grew older I realized how dated her costume and hair were, but I still loved her. Her black thonged Warbird outfit made me cringe so I ignored her as a modern character for decades. But then in 2012, she took on the iconic mantle of Captain Marvel and finally fulfilled her destiny. Suddenly her costume lacked both a bare midriff and thong, and predictably she looked better than ever. I always thought it was interesting that the after-thought female version of an established male character has become more popular and long-lasting than the original. There are tons of gender-swapped heroes like this, but none has surpassed her predecessor quite like Carol. I'm so happy that this movie will launch her into the public eye in such a spectacular fashion. Let's check out Captain Marvel below!

This is hard to show in photos, but in addition to the metallic blue and gold paint on this figure, most of the red is made a translucent pearlized plastic. Only the red of her chest and belt are flat paint, the rest is a really dynamic looking material. I hope the green starforce version has the same treatment.

I bought two of this figure and they each has distinctly different shades of hair. This one is more blonde, but the one I didn't photograph has hair cast in a noticeably darker plastic.

This figure comes with an extra sets of opened hands and an unmasked head. The paint job on the head is pretty off-base. It doesn't look anything like Brie Larson. I've been a fan of her since back in the United States of Tara days and without even doing a photo comparison I can tell that her eyes are painted completed wrong. Brie has big dark expressive eyes and prominent eyebrows. This head (as well as the Bomber Jacket Captain Marvel Variant in this same wave) look like they are painted to resemble a completely different actor. I can't wait to try to fix it.

Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!

Here she is with her 2015 Comic Version.

And with an assortment of MCU ladies: Black Widow, Gamora, Wasp, Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Sif, and Mantis.

Cheers!
