Arkham Knight - HARLEY QUINN!

DC Comics Multiverse - Batman: Arkham Knight - Harley Quinn - Mattel 2014

Oh Harley. Some designers just don't understand you the way I do. I know you don't want to be dressed like a Victorian dominatrix. I know you don't want softly dyed pigtails. I know you just want an outfit you can easily do cartwheels in. Unfortunately most game designers don't understand this. This newest incarnation of Harley Quinn seems like an awkward kitbash of her Arkham Asylum sexy nurse getup and her (much more acceptable) Arkham City leather duds - with a little "sexy French maid" thrown in for kicks. I'm not a fan. But I'm pretty dedicated to Miss Quinzel so this wasn't a toy I could pass up when I found her in Walmart yesterday. The figure itself isn't horrible. And I actually like having a variety of Harley figures in all her crazy transformations. But it really makes me think of the costume that Margot Robbie will get for the Suicide Squad movie. I'm guessing that look will be very influential for the future of the character. I hope it looks like Assault on Arkham.  Let's check out Harley below!

Harley comes with her signature mallet.  The mallet has some cool details like her trademark diamonds.

The other side says "your face here" hehe.

Harley is decently poseable but she surprisingly doesn't have any elbow articulation.

Here is the main image of Harley released so far.  Batman: Arkham Knight won't be released until June 2015.

Time for some Group and Comparison Shots!

Here she is with the Multiverse Batman Returns Catwoman.

From Left to Right JLU Harley, Multiverse Harley, Assault on Arkham Harley and Injustice Harley.

Cheers!

  1. Not her best look but not her worst look either. I don't think it likely I will find her at retail (still haven't seen Michelle Pfeifer's Catwoman) because MATTEL, but if I do I will definitely pick her up!

    1. I've seen the Michelle Pfeiffer Catwoman at plenty of TRUs sporadically, but as far as I know this newest wave with Harley and Joker is only showing up at Walmart. I saw her in two different stores this weekend.

    2. You know, i just realized she's planned to be re-released in the Date Night 4-pack with Arkham Catwoman, Batman, and Joker. You might want to wait until that hits the shelves.

  2. Man, I was really looking forward to this figure. I wanted a decent 3-4 inch scaled Harley, but this isn't it. I have two major gripes, one if the articulation, there's no excuse at this scale nor price point not to have elbow joints. The second, is the face sculpt. I know that head/face sculpts are difficult at this scale, but this one came out really gummy, and the paint/Tampographs aren't helping. G.I. Joe's are about the same price if not a little less, and they have crisp head sculpts and decent paint work, i'm not sure why Mattel's having so much trouble with these figures.

    1. I completely agree with you on the articulation and face details. She could be immensely better. The prototypes from SDCC looked great... which makes me think that I will try a brief makeover with a paintbrush to see if I can improve her. Also, the newest GIJoe are rubbish. The Baroness and Lady Jaye 2-Pack has the sloppiest faces I've seen in years -- they were a real disappointment.

    2. Last G.I. Joes I bought were the 25 anniversary ones, but i've seen some of the 50th anniversary ones, and some them are aright, some of them get a bit gummy. So that's subjective but I agree to the extent of mattel's bad QC should only be as a bad as well, bad hasbro QC if that makes sense.

Quick aside; I don't know why, these Arkham (K)night's on Broadway Harley figures are having odd face sculpts, I don't know if it's just me, but for some reason the DC Direct 6 inch, and the Mattel Multiverse 3-4 inch figures look a bit haggard to me. The only decent looking one is the Play Arts Kai one.

  3. Eh, I don't mind this version of Harley but I agree it is not her best look. The lack of elbows is odd. Pfeiffer Catwoman has them!

RE: GI Joe 50th Lady Jaye - I have one on the way from eBayUS. The seller had 5 of them & I asked if he could send the nicest looking one...hopefully they weren't all bad!

    1. I saw the 50th Anniv Lady Jayes and Baroness' at a bunch of TRUs and they were all horrible. I remember even seeing a store banner (bbts, tfaw, entertainmentearth? I can't remember) with a closeup of their faces and they were equally bad. It's a shame because I thought that they would respark my GIJoe passion. Hopefully all the ones I saw were a "first wave" with bad QC or something. I'd hate to think they let their quality drop so much for the whole line.
