Marvel Legends - Warrior Goddess SIF!

Marvel Legends - TRU Exc A-Force 6-Pack - Warrior Goddess Sif - Hasbro 2017

This is the figure that thrilled me the most when the A-Force box set was revealed back in February. Before Jane Foster Thor, Thor Girl, and Storm as the Goddess of Thunder, Sif was the Asgardian Warrior I wanted to see take center stage more than any other. She's received a fair amount of attention from her appearances in the Thor movies, and although I like that they retained the general color scheme (and Jaimie Alexander is awesome), I always think a good Norse warrior needs a headdress of some sort - specifically the "winged headpiece" type worn by Thor and She-Ra. I also really loved Sif's bright red and white color scheme with her stark black hair. So, yeah, I've been waiting for this figure for years. You can always trust that a classic comic style figure is on the horizon when the character appears in a movie. It may take six years, but it will eventually happen if you're patient. Now we just need a proper movie version. (It's surprising we're getting a Valkyrie first). Let's check out Sif below!

My only issue with this figure is the fact that her headpiece seems misplaced and asymmetrical from the front. I've been looking at figures on eBay and they all look randomly placed (in different ways). I may pick up a better one when the boxset hits stores.

There are some really interesting new costume accessories in this set. Sif's cape (which is removable as seen here) is also used on Lady Loki. And Monica Rambeau and Elsa Bloodstone share a new mid-length flared coat piece. Re-use of parts is nothing new, but I thought that two new pieces with two uses in the same boxset was amusing.  ** edit - Elsa and Monica's waistcoat is from the movie Scarlet Witch - thanks Mars!

She is a lot more flexible and poseable without the cape.

Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!

Here is the entire A-Force boxset together.

And here she is with the other Asgardian in this set, Loki.

All the comic-based Asgardian ladies together: Hela, Valkyrie, Sif, Thor, Loki, Angela, and Enchantress.

From Left to Right:  Superhero Squad, Eaglemoss, Marvel Legends, Mini-Mates, and HeroClix.

Cheers!

  1. I'm really looking forward to this figure! I also can't believe it took so long to get a ML comic Sif. At least she scales well with Jane, Angela and Hela. It kinda drives me crazy how ML seem to drastically fluctuate from 6" to 7" from wave to wave.

    1. She's a beautiful figure... and Yeah the scales do seem a little wonky wave to wave, but I don't really mind. As long as they don't ever go back to that old scrawny body from 90's Jean grey, Hope Summers, Mystique, etc.. I was happy with that body back then, but looking at it now, it just doesn't hold up.

  2. The headdress on mine is centered right but it's a little low and her hairline looks like it's receding, otherwise she's great. Hasbro is doing a pretty good job at not making the reused parts super obvious, except in the case of Monica and Elsa's jackets which are reused from MCU Wanda

    1. Oh good call about Wanda's coat! I actually compared these figures to my entire ML shelf to check for reused parts... but I realize now that I just pulled Wanda out when I was photographing Hela and she's still on my table. I just made an edit above.. thanks!

  3. Sif's always awesome. Figure looks pretty damn good to me. I guess all that's left for Asgardian women figures is Sera.

    1. Umm I honestly don't remember Sera from the Angela books (I have a bunch of them, but stopped reading at some point).. but after just looking her up I really want an action figure of her. And if they do, I hope she's really tall.

  4. What about Karnilla, Queen of the Norns? She's figured prominently in a number of Thor storylines and has been overlooked the last couple of decades. She certainly has two designs which would look impressive in plastic, the purple and white outfit with the wild Hela-esque headdress or her classic red gown from the late silver through bronze age comics.

    1. yes, yes, and yes. She would make a great action figure. My exposure to Asgard is fairly sparse. Basically just the Asgardian Wars in the 80s, the few stints in the 90s when there was a girl Thor, and then recent runs drawn by Coipel and all the new Jane Foster stuff. So the older characters are basically a mystery to me.
