Spin Master - BATGIRL!

DC Comics: The Caped Crusader - Batgirl - Spin Master Toys 2021

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this Spin Master Batgirl is the first real 3.75" comic version Barbara Gordon in the US. When I get a new toy, I like to compare it to similar figures. But in this case there just aren't any. Sure, there were a ton of Timm-Verse Batgirls, and that Microman Batgirl import from 2004. But a simple comic version on the toy shelves just somehow never happened. And that is shocking considering she's easily in the top four most iconic DC heroines (Wonder Woman, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and Batgirl). Of course, this first 3.75" figure just had to have the awkward Bat-tech circuitry deco that recent Spin Master waves have been sporting. Nothing let's a collector know that they are not the target audience for a product more than silly paint decos. But I have high hopes for a standard version eventually. And I couldn't resist attempting to remove the circuitry in the meantime (pic way down near the bottom). Here's hoping for a standard deco and a 12" version soon. Let's check out Batgirl below!

Like most DC Spin Master figures, Batgirl comes with three secret accessories. The deco of the accessories is a secret until you open the package and learn what "mission" you got. In my case, the mission is "Ice Tech" so her accessories are cast in translucent glittery blue.

As soon as I saw the techo-deco on this Batgirl figure, I knew I would attempt to remove it. It actually comes off fairly easily with a Magic Eraser. This next pic shows my progress with it so far. It's not complete yet obviously, but the easy parts are done. Not sure exactly how I'm going to finish the areas around her bat symbol. I also can't remove the head to get around the neck. If anyone has taken one of these figures apart, please send me a pic of the inner joints.

Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!

Here are the Spin Master Bat-Ladies all together: Catwoman, Batgirl, and Batwoman.

Cheers!

  1. If you want to remove her head, boil some water and submerge for a few minutes

  2. The circuitry deco really does throw me off. I wouldn't pass up a Batgirl figure but I don't think one would be a favorite. Thanks for the review.

    1. I got around it by just painting over it with a similar shade of purple to the base figure, and carefully avoiding the bat logo on the chest.

  3. The head sculpt is really pretty, especially for this scale. I really dig this line from Spin Master. Here’s hoping they release a regular version of her. And I know this is a pipe dream, but I would absolutely love if they made a Cassandra Cain Batgirl.

And I wish the capes were easier to change. I would love if they had capes made of better material.

  4. I did remove my Batman's head to place a custom cloth cape on him. You'll need to heat up his neck/head with a hair dryer and gently remove it, as it's a regular ball joint. Do whatever customizing you'd like and then place the head back in.
