I thought Jurassic World Rebirth was a refreshing return to what I love about the Jurassic franchise. After years of movies in atypical settings and with casting choices I've grown weary of (not you, Bryce), it was nice to have a stand-alone movie largely taking place in a tropical jungle and with a fantastic cast. From the trailers, I expected there to be a little more of an added Indiana Jones vibe with ancient temples and ruins, but that was unfortunately only one small scene. Scarlett Johansson plays Zora Bennett, a freelance former government operative who is tasked with safely escorting some scientists and civilians on an expedition to an off-limits South American island where the dinosaurs from a former inGen facility have taken over. It's a simple plot and small cast of characters - so the environment and the dinosaurs get their time in the limelight. I just watched it for the second time yesterday as a refresher from this Summer and, although much more enjoyable on a big screen, I still highly enjoy it.
This set was really tricky to get my hands on. I heard chatter in the collector community that she was showing up at BAM Bookstores (Books-A-Million). Unfortunately most of my local BAMs have closed. I have one about an hour East of me, and another about an hour West. I eventually made an afternoon of it and luckily they had her.
Zora comes with a large rifle and a backpack. Like a lot of the recent Jurassic humans in the Mattel line, her backpack can open to store things inside. But unlike other figures, she doesn't have any small accessories that can fit inside.
Also in this set is a large Velociraptor. This Raptor has larger-than-expected limbs and a unique color pattern. The island was an experimental cross-breeding facility, so it's quite possible this is a hybrid. It's is articulated at the shoulders, hips, neck, and jaw.
Time for some Group and Comparison Pics!
Here are the two Zora figures together. It's surprising how different they look.
And here are all of my modern Mattel Jurassic Ladies together. From Left to Right: Zora Bennett 1 (Rebirth), Claire Dearing Hammond 1 (Fallen Kingdom), Yasmina "Yaz" Fadoula v2 (Camp Cretaceous), Yasmina "Yaz" Fadoula (Camp Cretaceous), Claire Dearing v2 (Fallen Kingdom), Isabella Delgado (Rebirth), Claire Dearing (Fallen Kindgom), Ellie Sattler (Jurassic Park), Lex Murphy (Jurassic Park), Claire Dearing (Dominion), Kayla Watts (Dominion), Maisie Lockwood (Dominion), Ellie Sattler (Dominion), Soyona Santos (Dominion), Maisie Lockwood (Fallen Kingdom), Sarah Harding (Lost World), Brooklynn (Camp Cretaceous), Zia Rodriguez (Fallen Kingdom), Sammy Gutierrez (Camp Cretaceous), Claire Dearing Hammond 2 (Fallen Kingdom), and Zora Bennett 2 (Rebirth).
Cheers!
