A Long Overdue 2015 YEAR-END REVIEW!

A Collection of 2015's Most Amazing Female Action Figures All In One Post

Sorry for the insane delay with this post. I did my first year-end review last year (for 2014) right after New Year's Day, and in that post I wrote that it had been a surprisingly gratifying process that I wanted to do annually. I still fully intend to do that, but this year so far has been a whirlwind and this post took a long time (there are 115 images and links). I'll try to be more on top of things for next year I swear. I like doing these posts because it can be so easy to "horde and forget" - there's always something new around the corner and it's easy to grumble about missed exclusives, cancelled items, and things as trivial as a not-quite-right paint color. But I like to put on the brakes every now and then and look back at what twelve brief months have added to my burgeoning collection. We truly are in the middle of the Golden Age for collectibles, but it's easy to lose sight of that in the rush to get the next new thing. Take a gander at this selection (by no means complete) and realize how lucky we are. Sermon over :)

MARVEL LEGENDS
from
Hasbro

Marvel Legends was super impressive last year with 17 gorgeous ladies, (and it seems like 2016 might try to top it). The roster this past year was a good mix of classic "apology" figures (like Spider-Woman and Wasp) along with a ton of 1st-time ever Legends. I'm totally swooning over this line.

MARVEL UNIVERSE & MINIVERSE
from
Hasbro

I stopped being a 3.75" Marvel completist in 2015. Despite that, I think I'm only missing two figures (Shanna and Emma Frost). They really slowed down the production of this line. The 2.5" Miniverse figure at the bottom has me all giddy though. I hope we see them for every future Marvel movie.

MARVEL MINI-MATES
from
DST

2015 may have been a slow year for Marvel Mini-mate ladies, but 2016 is shaping up to be insane. We already have Captain Marvel, Lady Thor, Copycat, Domino, Dazzler, and Siryn (not to mention the animated Gamora and Black Widow). But the on the horizon is Tigra, Enchantress, Power Princess, Silk, Wolverine (Laura), and Unmasked Spider-Gwen. It's kind of dizzying how many awesome characters they are putting out.

DC ACTION FIGURES
from
DC Collectibles

Every year the collection of DCD figures seem to grow and improve. It's impressive how they are able to juggle so many unique styles under one umbrella: animated BTAS style, stylized Designed Series, the Arkham Video Game figures, and the regular comic ones.

MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE CLASSICS
from
Mattel

While 2014's collection of ladies was hard to beat with the Club Etheria mini-sub and all, 2015 was not too shabby. It seems like all the shelf-hogging winged ladies were saved up to hit us all at once.

WWE
from
Mattel

I tell myself all the time that I'm going to stop buying these ladies. There is such an abundance of them that I've totally run out of room. But every time I see a new one hanging on a peg with that temptingly-low price point, I can't help but snag them.
